Re: 701CS NiMd/NiCd - does it matter?
Haha stop doing so much paper to paper comparison. In 99.9% of situations, NiMH will behave identically to NiCD. The exception is with dumb-charging, which the 701CS is almost guaranteed to not be using. This was phased out by 1990 in most laptops. Don't worry, both NiMH and NiCD are pretty bulletpr...

Re: 701CS replacement battery - dimensions / 3D model needed || ((or source for original battery shell))
I have a battery I can make a model. Also: these old laptops are *VERY* finicky about the ESR of the power they're supplied with. The battery must be spot welder or soldered together or it will not boot the laptop. Also should be good for about 8-10 amps PEAK power and 2 amps continuous if you are g...

Ah I didn't know about the T420 Ivy-lock. Oh well .
Anyway thats possible, given the speed at which CPUs were progressing at that point, it was likely easier to grab a new chipset and throw some older hand-me-down CPUs in it and call it a consumer machine.

Re: Possible for a laptop to be compatible with a Pentium II and III at the same time?
FWIW I believe that Putting P3 chips in a 770X was common, and that was a P2 machine with the MMC2 socket. If it can go forward, I see no reason it can't go back as well. On a more modern note, T420 could take a 3rd gen processor and same for the T430 for the 2nd gen. Should be okay to go ahead.

Re: ThinkPad T530 with Nvidia GPU: High CPU Usage
I5-3230M is not the fastest thing, although should be capable of it. Why is your CPU running at only 1.2GHz though? It might be pegged because it's not going full speed.

Re: unofficial upgrades and info for the X1xxe series and the Mini 10
The extra 2 bits on each channel is handled by a 4th twisted pair. When connected to a 6 bit display, its just driven on 3 pairs not 4. The 8-bit display has no idea its not getting an 8-bit source, and will do nothing in response. Technically, you won't get the top colors...ie you can only get 1111...

Re: unofficial upgrades and info for the X1xxe series and the Mini 10
Ive spent the last few days looking through every panel that would possibly fit. The one that fits bet is the LP116WH6-SLA1, having the same bolt holes, pinout, layout and specifications as your B116WX02. The only difference is the width, 278mm on the AUO panel and 280mm on the LG. It has been done ...

It's got a 1 lane LVDS connector, 1366x768 is the max you'll get out of it. Also, you don't have an onboard DP connector to scavenge the signals off of, your sore out of luck there.

There are some documents like that on kev009. I've found some for the 365XD.

Re: W10 x86 LTSC installation on X60s
Use the W10 USB creation tool and try again. It's the dedicated one from MS and IMO the only one you should use.
EDIT: I guess that's what the Media Creation tool is called. Also check in the BIOS compatibility vs. AHCI mode.

Re: Thinkpad 600 SSD
Unless you are talking about really special types of random seek, I dont know why you would want a full SSD in a ThinkPad 600. With PII266 and 416MB of ram, my ThinkPad 600 can barely even max out the performance of a 5400rpm Hitachi drive from a ThinkPad T4x (or the ram, unless you try to surf the...

Old HDD won't image
I put my 365XD drive on a USB-IDE adapter and I'm trying to get it to image using Raw HDD Copy Tool and it gets about 4% in and the drive slows and makes clicking sounds, speeds up and repeats. The drive works fine in the machine so I don't know why it won't copy? Bad sectors? What is the best metho...

Re: Thinkpad 600 SSD
Likely a CF card with a CF to IDE adapter. Perhaps. The raw throughput of a SATA 3 SSD is roughly 20 times the bandwidth of the Thinkpad 600's IDE port; I expect unusual issues to crop up. What? CF is pin comaptible IDE...and runs at IDE speeds. Outside of the speed of flash over a spinny disk, it ...

Re: Bought a T450s with FHD Panel. Can anyone identify the problem with this screen? Stuck pixels?
IMO, your kinda stuck. It looks like panel damage. Your best luck is to see if pressure/release makes it go away. Also you could look up a stuck pixel tool that flashes colors rapidly to make the pixel work again. There are videos on YouTube to do pixel "treatment".

4:3 High PPI medical monitors have been around for a while. You can get them in 3MP(2048x1536) and 5MP(2650x2048). They will just cost you an arm and a leg.
