I guess it is a throw back to the original A-series and specifically the A31p which ran HOT! The continuation of the TP Retro?

The back stub is to prevent the drive from going in a T4x machine. Snap it and you now have T4x compatibility.

The problem is there are probably more of those monitors in the wild than laptops in the wild. You could probably use them as a driver for say if you happened to mod a 755C with an RPI or something. These machines happen to take them: 345C, 365C, 365CD, 370C, 365E, 700C, 701C, 720C, 750C, 755C, 755C...

Hey keenerb, It's me TwistedPneumatic from VCFED! Anyway, those panels are from the 700C and 720C units and SHOULD be capable of 256 colors but definitely not High-Color. I doubt any of the people that had these units originally went any higher than 640x480x16C anyway because they all went with the ...

Because Fedex ALWAYS ships two things at once: your package to your destination and your wallet to their bank account.

Take apart the LCD.
Remove the backlight and diffuser
Replace it with a mirror.
Now you have a reflective display that will rock in the sun!

I could 3d print a shell of a battery so that it looks nice. Won't actually contain any battery though because it is plastic(and maybe some coins for weight if you want that). I could see what I could put together. I have an X230T to experiment on.

Re: Help identifying possible counterfeit battery

Here is the ultimate test: Throw it on the floor. If it bounces back with no damage, it is OEM. If it breaks, its garbage!

I think it might be a fake. I need to check my stash of OEM batteries when I get home.

12V from the battery or 12V from the outside? I wonder if it isnt sending the "smart data" so it is complaining.

If it wont run off the battery, thr main battery might supply the CMOS power. I havent seen that since 1989 but is possible from the non-removable nature of the battery.

Ok, you need to know a bit about thos machine. It is from 1996 and it will never run anything remotely modern. Even Windows XP wont run. So you are stuck with 95 or 98. Maybe Puppy Linux will work, maybe not. Not sure. You coudl get a CD-ROM drive from this forum or if you have a floppy disk or two ...

Re: Retro Thinkpad T61p Build! Warning PICS!

Um, it isnt considered retro by todays standards though. It is a late Core 2 Duo. I'd say a good 5% of the market uses Core 2 Duos. 1/4 of the users on this forum daily a Core 2 Duo, including me. It isnt old if it cant be deemed too old for modern software. Anything post-2000 isnt retro/post SSE2
