SE10 what? (mental splutters) Looked on ebay and not there. mean by thinkpad EDGE E10/E11? Both can come in either AMD or 1st gen i core only. Both use plug in battery coin. I always replace them with new every time for peace of mind, and only cost few dollars from ebay. Cheers, thinkpadcollection ...

Thinkpad 500 Motherboard

Does anyone ave pictures of the Thinkpad 500 motherboard. I want to know if the CMOS battery is easily replaceable because it I found a Lexmark SE10 on eBay that uses the 99% of the TP 500 parts and I dont want to deal with another CMOS debacle that 2 of my other machine have had.

It's about as plausible as a Mythbusters plausible.

If you add 'bout 500% the work and money required to do it the proper way, it will work, but it will still not be as good.

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

I'm interested in swapping a 12" X61T IPS HV121P01-100 or HV121P01-101 panel into my 14" T60. I know that the panel would be slightly smaller than the frame but I think I can get it to fit in. Is this in any way plausible? What kind of conversions would I need make in order to connect it to the mot...

I'll be holding on to W7 as long as I can. I use too many Windows only programs that just can't be emulated in Wine. Windows 10 won't fly with me, and that start menu that belongs to Windows ME!

Take a T500 and smash it into my head. :x

Yeah, I mean I am a bit disappointed but hey, having an 850 itself at a decent price and cheap shipping makes up for it. Figuring out the HDD caddy is going to be a real pain though... The hinges are already starting to give, any suggestion on how to deal with them? You think that's bad? Good luck ...

T500 keeps frying OS's.

I have a few HDDs laying around with various copies of windows on them. I put all 3 in and they all caused a BSOD of 0x7B on startup on XP & 7. Now none of the drives will boot in any other machine without the 0x7B error. Tried AHCI & ATA compatibility mode and stuff.

Re: what PCs were first to use serial ata

My Dell Poweredge 400SC(2004) had SATA. The drives and cables were quirky because the cable was connected to both the power and data port as a hige connector but the power port wasnt acutally connected. The drives were the last to use molex for power but SATA power worked fine.

T430s 1600x900 panel
T410 LCD cable 1280x800p (tested to work on T430s panel)

Re: Time to crowdfund the real ThinkPad: let's see how badly we want it

I think I would just go for the X61 with a Full HD IPS panel, modern ports (VGA can be kept but remove modem, PC card and firewire for HDMI and Thunderbolt 3), and upgraded internals (8th gen CPU, 16GB RAM, SSD). Yeah, the X60/61 is about the perfect form factor for a laptop; I still use my X61s al...

X201s and X201 screens are interchangable.

X201s with 1280x800 displays can come with a webcam but might not. ALL 1440x900 displays DON'T COME WITH WEBCAMS.

X201s i7-640LM is slightly less powerful than a X201 i7-620M

The T50 hasnt been manufacturered for years. The T70 is your best option, using the more sturdy T60p chassis.

Zenith made some of the most quality laptops of all time, definitely onpar with IBM's standard. I give it my own Thinkpad badge of approval if I had such a thing.

Could it be valid that screens around 2005 were actually better than today? No. Your memory is playing tricks with you because you want to remember "the golden era" as being, well, "golden". :) The TN panels on Thinkpads were always crap, although the early Lenovo 15.4" workstations had some OK WSX...

To be clear, what system are we talking about here? T2x cannot implement P4 so I'm assuming that you are doing this on a T30. If so, then it's likely that the missing (dead) battery is preventing the system from running at full speed. Try installing a known good battery and re-measure the system sp...
