Re: Thinkpad 701CS screen problem

You can use the Fn+Home and Fn+End to adjust the contrast(might be PgUp and PgDn, its the icon that is a circle, half white and half black.) The blueish green pattern on the screen is part of the old DSTN technology. They get burn-in and there is nothing you can do about it. All of those screen have...

Ok fine. Want me to REALLY convince you.? Yea you do. LOOK AT THOSE BEZELS ON THE Y260. Take one good look at them. Look at how big and scary they are! Look at all the screen area you are losing! Scared and convinced on the Y370? Well you should be  ! In all seriousness, a 13.3" screen is a...

Not sure software wise but you could prpbably splice a reed switch in and PNP transistor to the mic lines and highjacking the magnet for the lid sensor to mute the mic.

Which was your favorite TP numbering scheme?

Which is your personal favorite, the early ibm 3 digit (Model/Revision/Processor/Screen/Extras), the late IBM 2 digit(Model/Number/Revision), or the Lenovo 3 digit(Model/Screen/Year/0) I personally like the early IBM one because it shows the most information but I dislike IBM's uncordinated use of i...

1) What pieces are broken
2) a) How are you planning to use an ISO
B) note: most drives pre-1998 are picky about burned discs.
3) 755C's are very common. You'll find one.

Re: X-class ThinkPad that doesn't run hot?

I don't know what your definition of recent is, so I'm going with "newer than your X201s" 1. X220i with Core i3 would probably run a bit cooler than a regular X220 with Core i5/i7. 2. X220 with ULV CPU like the i5 2537M, esp with regular heatsink installed 3: X230 with ULV CPU like the i7 3667U, es...

Re: X1 2013 pricing and what to look for?

The 2013's are the first gen of the X series? The first gen of the X1 Carbon series, there is also the "plain" X1, which is even more rare... It uses a standard 2.5" drive and has only one slot of RAM available, (max 1x 8GB). And it has a rather awful 1366x768 screen... No. The 2012 X1C is the firs...

Re: How does "AspectRatio" affect ... being a "laptop" ???

Aspect Ratio on a laptop doesn't kill me. Its when it is on a desktop. AutoCAD, Programming IDE, Video Editing, etc. is ALL better on my 2x 16:10 monitors with 1200p over 1080p. Ask why not 4:3? Well its simple: 21" 1600x1200 monitors have no less vertical room, but less screen area all put together...

Actually, it is likely not wiped. These drives commonly have "sticktion" where the heads stick to the platter. Take out the drive, put it in your hand, and firmly rotate it where the axis you are shaking it is the axis of the platters(basically put the label face side up in your palm and move it lik...

Re: Thoughts on convertible laptops ?

I have a TP Yoga. Its nice, but it is a median compromise. It is an OK laptop and an OK tablet. My X240 beat the living hell out of it for being a laptop and my HP Touchpad beat the living hell out of it as a tablet. Its stylus is pretty neat though a bit gimmicky for me. Suggestion: Automatically hiding huge images?

It seems like every other week that there is another problem with overly large images in tags. I don't imagine that it would be all that difficult to install/implement a check on the file size/image size of an image before it displays. Thoughts?

If you can see the screen broad as daylight at an 85 degree tilt from normal, it is IPS Flexview. I believe in 2006, all IPS panels were all about the same, or pretty darn good.

The 750P, 360P and 360PE never came with TFT displays. Neither did the other slab ones like the 700T and 730TE. I've never seen an old tablet without a STN display. Why?

The back stub is to prevent the drive from going in a T4x machine. Snap it and you now have T4x compatibility.
