Ok, found what I needed there. Wow, the HMM has everything. Thanks RBS. It also answered my second question of will it run on 12V.

Can someone give me the pinout of the 750/755C/360 battery pinout for positive and negative along with a picture of how the pins are layed out in the machine? Two simple pictures is all I need.

But my IBM 5151(actually a PGS Max-12) monitor is going to get burn-in!
I always let my machines go to sleep when left alone, I wojt put a screensaver on them because RBS is right. nVidia chips have enough problems, why work then for nothing?

Biggest question: what is your primary use for the tablet? If it is going in the car as a navigation device, grt the miix. If you plan on using it as a painting tool, get the Venue. Etc..

I'm running this ultra-light weight distro that happens to support many modern prgrams and plays very nicely with old computers. It is Windows 98
Haha. Just kidding. I run Ubuntu on my test machines but I will never use it on a daily driver.

My X220 i7 has died
My daily driver X220 i7-2640M has died  . Troubleshooting so far: 30 second power button w/ no power. Removed slice and regular battery, slice appears to be dead. Used dock to press button, nothing. Machine has NO signs of life, no Thinklight flash, no green light, nothing. Dead. Anything I can...

If a wire pops loose from the mod and shorts out on the AC side of the PSU, the power supply and my devive are both equally screwed.

Re: Bench Supply from a PC PSU
Find the PSU feedback chip that monitors the outputs and make a new voltage resistor divider to raise the 12V to 15V. Perfectly within the rectifier output voltages. I did this to power a toshiba notebook years ago. Cheers, thinkpadcollection I could place a pull up resistor on my left mouse button...

Re: Thinkpad 500 Charger question.
That makes sense. Early revision 500's used SLA batteries while late model units used NiCD batteries. All my SLA powered laptops run at around 9-10V(Sharp MZ-100,Macintosh Portable) while the rest of my machines that are NiCD run well north of 15V.
Its all in the HMM.

Umm...also, the 500 uses 10.8V, not 16. The 730TE was 15V. You probably would have fried it.

I was debating doing this for a while but haven't had a need to. I would need something with a fully variable voltage control. Interested to see your take on it.

1440x900 will fit without an issue, it is much 0.4" smaller and should work just fine as long as the pins match. The 1400x1050 is RARE as all get out and would require a HUGE HUGE HUGE overhaul. Don't do that.

I've got one. It is in fantastic condition, lid has 1 tiny blemish and nothing else. No stylus, 8GB RAM, i5, and an HDD I think. I got to find where it is though. Non-backlit keyboard. It has very little use and works no problem.

Re: Thinkpad 500 Charger question.
The Thinkpad 730TE charger is compatible, just note that the 84G0505 is rated at 1.3A, and the 500 charger is rated for 1.7A. You should be able to get it to go for a little while but I wouldn't recommend using it for too long.

Well those X220T units with an i5 can run a near 200$. 70$ for an i3 X220T would still put you 80$ ahead. Another 70$ can get you a i7 board and make you 110$ ahead.

My pockets arent that small, my fingers are. I cant reach the other end of a 5.8" display in one hand. I might consider a blackberry priv and jump ship because I can use the keyboard as a touchpad. The physical keyboard beats a touch keyboard anyway.
