I really hope that it is a revised nVidia board that it got replaced with. Did the T61 have revised boards from 2010?
You can't infer the graphics chip date from the BIOS date, for example you can flash a 2010-dated BIOS on 2007-dated T61.

Re: Just got a T61 with nVidia Quadro NVS 140m!

If you remove the battery you can usually see the planar FRU which conveys a lot of information, including a dating range. However this is likely a warranty replacement board and it may have a good chip independently of any other indicators besides the chip date.

Re: Just got a T61 with nVidia Quadro NVS 140m!

Run "lspci" in a linux shell, it'll tell you which nvidia graphics chip you have, if any. It won't of course date it, that you physically check once you've established you have one.

Re: WTB: X60/61 screen (XGA, AAFS or normal TN)

The IPS screens were only used in tablets and as such are not drop in replacements -- (1) the pinouts are different, thus requiring either an adapter cable or modifying the LVDS cable, (2) the attachment points are different, thus requiring the removal of eyelets using a rotary tool, (3) have a glas...

Re: Bios for T61 with intel gpu for 1066fsb

The middleton BIOSes are dual IDA enabled , which is just a pointed way of stating that the EIST LOCK bit, MSR 0x1a0 bit 20:20 is unset. IDA is the C2D-era intel term for turbo boost technology, where if one CPU core is idle the other can overclock by a multiplier or half a multiplier depending on C...

Replace the previous CPU, flash middleton's BIOS, try using throttlestop. If the dual IDA option is still greyed out the problem is more likely to lie with you than the highsun BIOS.

You can research using dual IDA to take it up to 2.3 GHz, you can't generally overclock this CPU since it does not have an unlocked multiplier like the X9100.

Pity, I could have used them if the crack was limited to just the top glass layers.

Anyone else, hairline cracks and the lines associated with faulty row/column drivers are no impediment.

What do you want to do with this MXM card? If it's drive the existing LCD panel you'd have to siphon LVDS into it from the card while retaining the current dimming and on/off ability. If you don't use the WWAN you can remove the card and the 2nd fan and replace the WLAN card with the popular half-size cooler running card frequently mentioned in this sub-forum (you need to flash middletons BIOS to remove the whitelist). That removes/reduces the heat sources. Running it like that i...

X61 T9300 planar FRU P/N 43Y9004 Serviceable used part. This planar has the connector for the 2nd fan, so it is only a drop-in replacement for those X61's with the 2nd fan, basically if you have WWAN. The 14.1" and 15.0" system boards are the exact same boards. However if you simply transplanted the 14.1" planar into a 15.0" T60 then the ultrabay devices would not reach the planar sockets. Therefore an interposer card is used in a 15.0" T60 to bridge the gap, it simply plugs into the planar the s...
