Re: What to do with card slot?

I was in a bit of a hurry before work this morning and didn't finish my reply in full. The software will generate an authentication code and write it to the card. It also copies this authenication code to the codes vault (for lack of a better term). When the card is inserted it queries the codes vau...

We do have a photo posting forum...

I would still maintain a respectable size even in there though. No one needs to see a photo at 3000x4000 pixels.

It is for an authenticator card for secure log on to a corporate or business network. It can also to be used as an additional layer of protection for a stand-alone computer for Windows log-on. This software allows a stand alone computer to use the authenticator card: https://www.mysmartlogon.com/dow...

Re: T430 Win7 - Unexpected boot menu offering System Image Restore

Why not create an image of the system and delete the recovery partition and start this process over from scratch?

I know that is rather drastic, because once it's gone, it's gone.

I do however do that on about every system that has had a recovery partition just for the extra space.

Re: T430 Win7 - Unexpected boot menu offering System Image Restore

This may or may not be relevant in your case, but, have you told EasyBCD that the Linux OS is on the C: partition? I know that this doesn't make any sense, but EasyBCD looks for each operating systems startup files on the C drive regardless of where it is actually loaded or what the drive (partition...

Re: T430 Win7 - Unexpected boot menu offering System Image Restore

That was going to be my question. I believe EasyBCD has to take over boot management duties, but you must tell it that is what you want so it can locate the correct file path.

I just went through this on a dual-boot, dual-drive T520 with Win7 Pro and XP Pro64.

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition

It might. Try it and see, you have nothing to lose. If it will boot to the recovery partition you shouldn't need the COA, it will recognize it automatically.

I've never had to boot from a recovery partition. I make a boot disc and backup and delete the partition.

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition

Are we talking about a Lenovo TP?

I don't think your recovery partition is there. It should show up under Disc Management.

If this is a Thinkpad, your COA is in the battery compartment.

Re: First ThinkPad help required

You can swap keyboards to a UK model. When/if you install Win 10 just select UK input language.

I have German keyboards on two of my T series and upon reloading the OS I just selected German as the language input method. No hassles of having to switch to the desired keyboard in Windows.

Did someone miss the first post stating this was a dual-drive, dual-boot system? Two SSD's. Not just two partitions on the same drive.

Still running stable to date. No driver issues, or disc/boot issues.

The hardware maintenance manual is available right here on the site.

If you can work a screwdriver you can do this yourself and save a trip to the shop and be done in 30 minutes.

Re: Refinishing a W530 case?

There are several products available as a rubberized coating, there is also some auto customizing peelable paint or temporary flat black paints (that are harder to remove the longer they are left on the surface). If you want a pristine finish though, you will have to either remove the entire old fin...

I think I have this figured out. I have successfully booted back and forth twice now from Windows 7 to XP Pro 64 without incident. I did not have to reload XP, nor remove the Windows 7 drive. I apparently did not tell EasyBCD to load the BCD bootloader to the C drive and I was attempting to boot fro...

I think those would be listed in the device manager under your disc controllers.

I just recently installed IDE/AHCI drivers for Windows XP64 that does not include AHCI drivers and after slipstreaming them into the .iso and reloading the OS, they show up in the device manager.

You can try what I did and dowload the older Bluetooth stack for Windows from Toshiba.

The required codec for stereo audio bluetooth is not native to Windows 7.
