Re: w500 upgrade path for broke student

You don't say what processor is installed, but consider the T9600 as the cheapest upgrade out of what you have so far mentioned.

8GB RAM
500 GB SSD
T9600,

Are my recommended upgrades. A second hard drive for storage in the Ultrabay slot couldn't hurt.

If you like state of the art toys, I'd use the savings on the machine to bump up the specs

i7 9750H hex-core processor, and as was mentioned the 500GB SSD.

The i9 processor would be an option too.

My first T500 didn't care what RAM was used, but my second is rather particular about what is inserted.

But,,,but, how can that happen on a Continent with the strictest gun laws in the world?

Oh, never mind. Laws are only for the law abiding. I keep forgetting that, no matter in which country crime occurs.

The graphics look very good. Outstanding actually. There is a trailer available to watch at the MS site.

I really hope someone develops a 727 as good as Paul Golding did for FS2004 and FlyJSim has for X-Plane 11.

It's not just the speakers that determine audio quality in any audio chain.

You also have to consider the quality of components in the D/A converters and the audio amp.

MS Flight Simulator coming 2020

Just got wind that MS is re-creating Flight Simulator for Windows 10. I saw the preview at the graphics are amazing. As good or better than what I've experienced so far in X-Plane 11. I signed up for the Insider Program and I would like to become a Beta tester for this sim. I've been a licensed comm...

why lenovo ship machines with bios programming unlocked, this is pretty serious, specially allowing the microsoft morons to do it without your consent, update the bios is a high risk operation IMHO, it should be blocked by default (bios update by en user option right?) The trackpad does scroll I found out. It's a two finger smooth scroll and can be used anywhere on the trackpad. Not just in a pre-defined margin.

Re: Now I've done it...

This is my first Dell laptop. I had an old P4 Optiplex retired off-lease business machine I bought to use as a client for my flight simulator network and it did the job admirably, if not with a slight amount of lag. I probably should have turned the scenery settings down just a bit so P4 could keep ...

Re: Can someone tell me how this works?

That is not exactly what I was asking about.

I wanted to know how it is I can use one key for two different OS's on two different computers.

Windows 10 Pro was upgraded on the Dell using the Lenovo T520's key that is also being used for Win 7 Pro on the T520.

Can someone tell me how this works?

Two years ago I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to a purchased and downloaded copy of Windows 10 Home. The installer automatically upgraded the install to Windows 10 Pro, I guess because my system was running 7 Pro. A year later I decided I didn't like Windows 10 Pro and downgraded back to Win 7 Pro wit...

For on the go business use you will probably wish you had the build quality of the T series rather than the low end E consumer series. The T series is more robust and built better than the E series. If you're going to leave it on a desktop and use it as that or take it to the living room while watch...

That seems like a very high end machine to me. The specs are well beyond my regular needs, though on occasion all that power could be useful (when compiling your own software, etc.). It would actually be more interesting to hear from you what the machine is like. I've thought about purchasing a gam...

Without the factory system restore disc I still don't have the right combination for my T500. When Lenovo had the automated system checker for this machine it was a lot easier to get the correct drivers the first time. Now it's a legacy system and is not included in their system scan list. I think t...

I bought a Dell G3 about five minutes ago from the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), otherwise known as the BX on a military base. It is one of their mid-grade gaming machines, though to me it seems rather high-end for the price of $1299 with free shipping and tax-free. Specs are, Intel i7 97...

T7200/T7400/T7600 are all 64-bit CPUs.
But like ajkula66 said, limited usable RAM (~3GB) being the problem, you need to go for a 32-bit Windows version.
Or use any (32- or 64-bit) Linux.
Why can't it use more than 3GB of RAM???

So that machine can't use a 64 bit processor? Or is the RAM buss limited to addressing only 3GB of RAM?
