I too would choose the W520.

I have a T520 but it is spec'ed out better than most W520's found on-line.

I see it has a couple of more characters on the umlaut keys and the @ is moved from the Q key.

Well, I couldn't think of anything else. But yes, I think it came down to corrupted registry entries for Chrome.

Re: Any ideas about this Google Chrome problem?

I meant a fresh install of Google Chrome, not Win7. It is operating normally after a restore.

Maybe there was something corrupted in the registry that even a fresh install of Chrome kept going back to and wouldn't function correctly.

Re: Any ideas about this Google Chrome problem?

Could anyone even offer a guess?

The rest of the computer functioned normally. All programs opened, worked, and closed as they should. Even MS IE worked just fine. It seems that only Google Chrome on the T520 would not operate correctly even from a fresh install.

Re: Any ideas about this Google Chrome problem?

After several more hours of investigating this and trying different solutions, only a Windows restore from a backup of about a month ago fixed this. I have no idea what caused it and have never seen this before. I've been using Google Chrome for at least 10 years, probably more and nothing like this...

Any ideas about this Google Chrome problem?

On my T520 I have Google Chrome and Slimjet installed. On my T500 and both T510's I have Google Chrome installed. All computers are account-sync'ed so no matter which one I use they all look the same. This morning when I woke the T520 and attempted to open Chrome and select a site from a bookmark fo...

Yes, if anyone could get ahold of it.

I would imagine that first option allows you to set the machine type. In my case I would change it to a 4242-CTO if I could find a sticker to match. That would be impossible though.

Slimjet and Passwords

I am using Slimjet 64 on my T520 dual drive, dual boot Thinkpad in XP64. I have everything sync'ed from my Google account including the password file. Everything is there. Why is it when I open a website from a bookmarked and saved password site, that Slimjet will not fill out the Username/Password ...

Re: Thinkpad T420 factory reset

If you perform a clean .iso install make sure you download and store the wi-fi card drivers on a thumb drive, DVD, or external drive so you can get online and upgrade the rest of the drivers.

I like doing it this way as it eliminates the bloatware the factory install disc contains.

Enjoy. :) Where I live there are plenty of pubs that have draught RBS, within 10-15 minutes walking distance; but draught RBS in any country that is not Ireland still does not taste like draught RBS in Ireland, or so I'm told. It's the same for German beer in the States, with one important exceptio...

Re: W500 to T430 upgrade?

The T9600 at 2.8Ghz in my T500 is pretty fast for an old machine. Video is no problem either.

I would think for Reaper that T9600 would be plenty fast. Pro Tools might be a different story.

I forgot about that. It has happened to me more than once. After a second install it ran fine on those occasions when that happened.

Have you tried Cntl-Alt-Delete?

I don't know why those programs would've crashed your drive. If it's bad, it's probably just a coincidence.

You have nothing to lose by re-booting it.

Not cordless, but I use a Model M keyboard from 1989 on one of my T510's. It is mostly for convenience so I can keep the lid closed on my workbench. It also has a 22" monitor in use.

Re: Windows xp on X230 without death link

You will have to slipstream SATA drivers into the .iso for XP before you load it. XP was for PATA drives only, before SATA was invented and standardized for PC's and laptops.

You can't add the drivers after the fact as there will never be an 'after' without the SATA drivers.

We do have a photo posting forum...

I would still maintain a respectable size even in there though. No one needs to see a photo at 3000x4000 pixels.
