Not to mention that Windows 7 is not supported.
The T25 does not support Windows 7. Not MS.

Re: T61 - Windows 10, Intel Turbo Memory Controller, UltraNav

As a postscript to your interest in the Turbo Memory Card, I recently installed this card into a T520 using Windows 10 Pro with no ill effects. Frankly, I don't think it helps any especially with an SSD and 16 GB of RAM, but it was a slot to fill that wasn't being used. The driver was downloaded imm...

Re: R500 current equivalent?

Wow! Thanks for the outpouring of knowledge. I appreciate everyone's input. I was though, hoping to get him a new model and put Win 7 on it with his beloved Frontpage that I could put at least 16 gb of ram. In the meantime since I posted this, he has been using my high end Macbook Pro with touchbar...

Re: How many ThinkPads is too many?!

I tend not to keep something or buy something I'm not going to use. I don't want it if I'm not going to use it.

To answer the question, I only have four, but each has a purpose and all are used regularly.

Re: R500 current equivalent?

I would look for a W520 with one of the high end i7 QM processors and 32GB of RAM.

There is so much you can still do with these machines. And Windows 7 Pro will be no problem.

Re: Anyone else ditching the Thinkpad?!

Back in the '90's I used to sell IBM Thinkpads for RadioShack for thousands of dollars. I knew I would never be able to afford one of those on what I was paid, even as a store manager. It was something I always longed to own. I wasn't a gamer, though with the sophistication of games back then, any T...

Re: Warped headphone jackon T540p

If it is a sealed jack you likely can't fix it.

It sounds as if the contact leaves have been bent out of position from you having yanked out the cord.

Simple enough to replace. The hard part may be getting to it. You will probably have to remove the MB to work on it to get to the solder contacts.

Re: Moving SSD from T520 to T470

You might have to authenticate Windows again. I don't know what sort of anti-piracy crap MS has built into Windows 10 so I don't know if it will authenticate on a different machine.

Anyone else?

Re: T500 runs great but won't boot with certain memory

I was still working on configuring my T500 after the new hard drive was installed and I got to thinking about the memory that is in my T510 i5 machine. There was 8 GB in that machine and I only use it while working on other systems to pull up the service manuals, listen to iTunes, etc. I pulled that...

Re: Wireless USB and Turbo Memory?

I installed this Turbo Boost Memory card while installing the SSD.

Windows couldn't find the drivers, but the Lenovo updater found it within seconds of running the updater.

Can't tell if it makes a difference or not with the SSD installed. The boot time is very fast now.

Re: Samsung SSD for T500

This is an incredible performance increase. Even more noteworthy than installing one of these drives in my T520. The T500 booted in 43 seconds even with having to scan a fingerprint. I also installed the Turbo Boost memory module, but I can't say if this had any effect on the boot time or not. This ...

You may have trouble with the FPR too. The drivers are loaded but there is no GUI to enter the prints or to communicate with the program.

Re: Get a new Thinkpad?

There's a lot out there that will serve your needs, but once again I will recommend the T520. Last of the laptop clicky keyboards, upgradable out the wazoo and easily worked on, a fresh 9 cell battery will give you around 6+/- hours of use, Windows 7 native, but I don't know about that hardware encr...

Thanks for the link so I could read up on that. I didn't think I was crazy. That procedure is a little above my pay grade. I would end up bricking my machine. i7 3rd Generation for T520

I just finished wading through ten pages of a search for this and came up with nothing. The only Thinkpad considered vintage that I really want is an A31 or A31p that was configured by NASA for use in space on the ISS and STS. The ultimate in a CTO Thinkpad.

Samsung SSD for T500

Still bringing my newer T500 up to speed.

Today I ordered another Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD. Along with the new T9600 I installed last week I should see a bit more improvement over the spinner drive.
