Re: Locked Bios T560 - How to unlock?

RBS is correct.

If they did not not specifically state the BIOS was locked, it was 'not as described'.

They will argue that they didn't know that because of the memory error on boot. Still though, not as described.

Re: Bench Supply from a PC PSU

Find the PSU feedback chip that monitors the outputs and make a new voltage resistor divider to raise the 12V to 15V. Perfectly within the rectifier output voltages. I did this to power a toshiba notebook years ago. Cheers, thinkpadcollection I could place a pull up resistor on my left mouse button...

Re: Bench Supply from a PC PSU

For DC, couldn't you put a 100K pot on the 12 volt rail? Or maybe a rheostat if a lot of current is generated? This PS for my hand-held is rated at 16 A but I haven't checked. I'm not too worried about the current output as long as it's at or above 1.5 amps when the transmitter power is set to high....

Bench Supply from a PC PSU

I have recently earned my Technician ham Radio operator licence and have purchased the Kenwood TH-D74A handheld radio. It is capable of using a 11-16 VDC external power supply when used as a base radio but Kenwood wants $150 US for a simple regulated power supply. I have a few old towers sitting aro...

If they really cared about Windows, 8, 8.1, and 10 wouldn't exist.
They only care about the bottom line. Hence the reason for Windows 10. Without all of the telemetry, ads, and other invasions of privacy, they wouldn't be making as much money as they would by upgrading Windows 7.

It really is 1984. This stuff scares the crap out of me. I have physically disconnected the microphones in all of my Thinkpads and un-installed the software. The cell phones are kept in another room from where I normally spend time. Data collection is bad enough without being able to totally turn it...

For those apps that you cannot uninstall, you can check the Startup Menu and disable any that automatically start each time you boot the machine.

Re: "Shipping Impossible: 'Wrong Side of the Pond'" [Non-US users?]

E-Bay makes it easy to ship USPS internationally. Anything going overseas is routed to their Kentucky international sort facility/customs and they take it from there. The seller only has to ship to Kentucky. If the overseas buyer wants to pay the freight, more power to them. I'm not paying for it. U...

Check the capacitors in the PSU for bulging or leaking. These can be replaced easily enough if found to be the problem. There is not much to a power supply.

Re: T500 Thinkpads

I bought a T500 machine from e-Bay that had the P8400 2.26 Ghz processor, 2GB of ram, and a paltry 80GB 5400 RPM drive. It did have the FPR though. A lot of the machines I see on e-bay had the FPR. That must have been a big thing back then. I see more T-510's without it. I upgraded my T500 to a T960...

Does the bootloader appear when the system passes POST to offer a choice of which operating system to use?

Theoretically it is possible. The Bluetooth module would have no clue it is transmitting to two headsets, however, I don't know if two devices can be paired at once for the same purpose. You would have to try it and report back to us.

If not and you removed the original Bluetooth card, there's your problem. The system is looking for a Bluetooth card where it is supposed to be, not combined with a wi-fi card.
