Re: Was given an HP 6303

I have one of those business class Dell Optiplexes too. I forgot about that one. It's been pretty well stripped though with no memory, hard drive, fan, some cabling, etc. Mostly just a shell with the MB still installed.

Re: T500 shows no signs of life

I was considering that processor for my T500 but the heat scared me away. Then I read you post and decided upon the T9600.

How hot isthat chip running?

I can't delete the other post.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the prices for an absolute bare-bones stripped model and the same model with every bell and whistle they offered?

Re: Intel T9600

I had 8GB of RAM in my other T500 and it moved along pretty well, but it used the same P8700 that I currently have. I know because of access times the SSD will probably be the biggest improvement, but the faster processor and extra RAM can't hurt.

Intel T9600

I just ordered a used T9600 processor for my T500 I bought a couple of months ago. I also purchased another 4 GB module to replace the 2 GB module that's in it now. That will bring the memory up to 8GB total. I hope to see an improvement over the P8700 that is now in it. I was going to buy an availa...

Not from that seller. He's already lied about how old it is. Those pictures may not even be of the machine you're buying.

Four years old. Right. Try FourTEEN years old maybe.

I would think so too, but I think just the opposite has happened and fingerprint readers have taken over.

I've never seen another T or W series Thinkpad with a Smartcard reader.

They must be out there though, the feature was an option.

Smartcards revisited

A year or so ago I installed Lenovo Smartcard readers into one of my T510s and and my T520. This was just to fool with and try to add another layer of protection to a couple of my T series laptops. I was attempting to use an ACOS5-64 Smartcard which, without the proprietary software from the card ma...

Re: W520- need help removing bezel and buying a fan

It is illustrated quite well in the T520 hardware manual and I can't imagine it being any different for the W520. You need to invest in some case separation tools used for this type of work. They are also used to separate tablet and cell phone cases. Some of them look like large guitar picks of vari...

Was given an HP 6303

My neighbor gave me an old HP 6303 Wally-World special yesterday. It looked like he just took it out of the box. Not a mark on it anywhere and clean as a whistle on the inside. Literally new looking. It had Windows Vista and was password protected. After getting around the account password and wiped...

The new German language keyboard I received from Germany has very 'clicky' keys. I did not note the part number unfortunately. It was from a seller in Germany on eBay.

Anything would have been better than the POS it shipped with.

Re: Will T530 keyboard fit in T520?

English, and even German keyboards are dirt cheap for the T510/520. Even the T500. I don't know why you would want to go to the trouble of installing an inferior keyboard, and then not having all of it work to save a few bucks. ??? I like to tinker and upgrade as much as the next TP fan, but not dow...

Sounds like the charging circuit might be bad.

Have you tried installing the battery while it is running on the mains alone? If so, what happens?

Who is the seller on e-bay so I can investigate and avoid if neccessary?
