Re: [EU] WTB : T43/p SXGA with battery (if possible)

Hello, I have been searching for a T43 machine for a while now. It could have intel graphics only or ATI GPU.As I would like a fully functioning computer, battery, charger etc would be nice. I would like the 1400x1050 screen (SXGA). Looking for something in overall good condition. Send me your offe...

Re: What is truly the best cpu you can put in a t42?

That would not be possible if his T42 is using an ICS950810, because that phase-locked loop chip is not supported by SetFSB. SetFSB is only able to overclock a T42 that has a CY28346ZI-2, not a T42 with an ICS950810. Yeah right my R51 also has CY28346ZI-2 chip and it overclocks very mildly (1.7Ghz ...

thanks
Here are the differences for the 14.1" models:

Just moving the 0 Ohm resistors to the new location should do the job, though do that at your own risk!
Good luck!

I think I can offer a 15" T43 (Or its parts, compatible with T42p) in unknown condition as of now, and a 15" R51 in perfectly working condition except for the ThinkLight (With a factory 9-cell battery, but lasts like half of original charge). Shipping is also gonna be a problem for here, but I guess...

Re: How to even get repair in London, 2019, for IBM R31 and T41?

Thank you, I wasn't able to get one of the screws undone that held the metal casing to the base, but I'll take it out and retry at some point. If you are talking about the side metal frames under the plastic bezel, you do not need to take them out. Just take the keyboard and the touchpad palmrest a...

Re: What is truly the best cpu you can put in a t42?

You can stick with your current CPU and do SetFSB overclocking... Did that in my ThinkPad R51 and got like 10% free performance for no costs. Just remember, first startup of SetFSB requires an active internet connection, otherwise it will ask you to pay even though it is freeware now, until you rein...

hey, could you please share what connections you had to change on the cable to make it SXGA? thanks This depends on the screen size. for 14.1" it is easy enough. Re: Did they ever make CD-R drive for 600X?

600's connector I believe is proprietary. Inside the connector plastics there is an adapter that converts a more universal connector to the ultrabay connector. That more universal connector is shared in majority of the Ultrabay 2000 / Plus devices, so swapping the outside plastic frame with an Ultr...

Re: Questions on purchasing new components for a T40 and T43

I would suggest swapping the screen parts around to investigate what really is the reason of no backlight (that is, be careful not to touch the part under the tape of the inverter or short it). Could be a dead CCFL tube, dead inverter, dead fuse or a dead motherboard. Know what you need before purch...

Looking for a ThinkPad T42/T43 15" base cover and palmrest (with fingerprint cutout) as mine is getting beaten up from daily wear and tear (and a drop onto cement on the corner, oops).
Preferbly from Canada to cut down costs on the shipping.

Re: A31 with GPU issue. Options?

One being bidded on eBay for cheap, guess that's my option After you have already got your replacement, you can try the heat gun method and see if you can reflow the solder by heat gun (since you have nothing to lose anyways), and you can also stick thermal pads on top of the GPU die so that the GP...

Re: Replacing My MB Air With A ThinkPad. Suggestions?

The X220/X230 are not slim at all compared to recent offerings. Even the 14" standard Thinkpad (T470/T480/TP25) are slimmer, not to mention the -s series or X1 Carbon. I never said X220/X230 are slim. I just said they are small and light. But comparing the likes of those T470/T480 to something like...

Re: Replacing My MB Air With A ThinkPad. Suggestions?

In my opinion, ThinkPads aren't all that great in terms of slimness recently (without significant compromise in term of longevity, upgradability and durability at the very least). If you just want a small and light traditional ThinkPad laptop, something like a ThinkPad X220 or X230 should be good if...

Re: M71e SFF GPU upgrade issues

Does Thinkcentre M71e support PCIe 8x cards? Many of these OEM desktops only supports native 16x in the 16x slot, and HD 8570 is a native 8x card in a 16x connector, and it may not boot on those computers. If something like a HD5450 (or more powerful ones like GTX 750/1050/Ti) works, then it is that...
