Then we get 4:3 back in a few years and were all good.
What happens if they decided to revisit IAUX14S with an optional QXGA upgrade?
Also while I don't have my hopes too high, I at least hope Lenovo is not stupid enough to mark the anniversary with something similar to what Apple did in 1997!

Re: 2 - Thinkpad A30p - Swap LCD and backlight not working on 2nd???

Check fuses F13 and F8 near the LCD-connector on the mobo. AFAIK one of them feeds the LEDs and the backlight. F8 is NOT under the LCD connector - it's under the DOCK connector Also does A31 series have different fuse labels than A30 series? I remembered fixing F19 and F8 did the job on my A31p! F8...

Just fully upgraded Dell OptiPlex 755 (with Xeon) and learnt that the laptop and desktop performance difference is still pretty big. I will continue to have my T43p as a travel computer, but I will have the O755 with me beside my bed. It doesn't have a trackpoint, but I did find a IBM SK-8815 USB ke...

The A3x was always meant to be a 15". The 14.1" was kinda slapped on as a cgeap option. The T30 was the REAL 14.1" laptop.
Exactly. I got my A30 as a base model with 256mb RAM and 14.1" display from a high school for free and turned it to its maximum specs

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

That's exactly why I started to phase out my XGA displays on A30 and all my T4x machines and donated a 15" LCD's CCFL bulb to IDTech IAUX14S UXGA IPS. I can tell you that the minute I replaced my 14.1" XGA display with a 15" UXGA display on my A30, I loved my A30 2 times more and had the guts to re...

Oh and one more thing we all forgot. Sometimes the performance issue is actually caused by hardware. In that case try to reseat the miniPCI card and the antennae and see if anything gets better.

Re: T43 Wlan - very weak performance

Well the other card that can come with T4x - 2915ABG supports 5Ghz @ 54mbps (802.11a). I find that important because some noob friends of mine don't know how to set up 2.4ghz alongside 5ghz on their routers so that I can't connect to their WiFi with 2200bg card. However, 2915abg is even more problem...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

There are no socketed CPUs Lenovo could use, as all mobile Intel CPUs are BGA now. What about the MMC-2 type package. They could make their own of sorts. That's a waste of money. The reason they stopped producing PGA packages for mobile platform since broadwell is that manufacturers such as Apple a...

You might still wanna double-check that if your thermal paste is done for or something, cuz you don't want to destroy a CPU like that

Re: What yo do with old T4X Machines.

Another thing you can do with low end T4x is to make them into digital gallery. 14.1" XGA is low end, but they get photo displaying jobs done, especially if you just have a working GMA motherboard with a whole other bunch of parts that isn't enough for a full laptop.

Re: What yo do with old T4X Machines.

Well I would say if your older T4x machines do not have a high-res IPS display, there isn't much of a point using them for your main daily tasks, because in that case the T6x machines do much better and the non-IPS versions are pretty cheap. Instead for that kind of machine, I would suggest you to u...

I guess the terrible 14" screen tradition started after IBM restructured their series. The T2x at that time are the popular affordable mainstream machine, while the A2xp at that time are the workstation machines with highest specs as they can go. Cranking that much of stuff inside there requires a l...
