Re: Best External Keyboard

I'd use one of those old IBM PS/2 keyboard if you have a PS/2 port or one of those PS/2 to USB adapter. I currently have IBM wireless keyboard and mouse from like 2000, IBM multimedia keyboard from 2005, and one of those ThinkCentre keyboard from 2012. The 2000 wireless keyboard has that kind of mec...

Re: T43 2687-DDU Screen Issue

Yeah I figured it was IPS related. I was digging into how to overclock displays (which I didn't realize was a thing), but I haven't been too successful yet, nor do I want it to blow up in my face. Well, try to run it in Windows 7 (with Windows Vista driver) see if problem persists. Meanwhile instea...

Re: T43 2687-DDU Screen Issue

I see ghosting on my IPS ThinkPads (T43p and A30p) as well. Those things don't refresh as fast as some other displays.
Also, make sure you are running at 60hz, sometimes these older drivers default to 50hz for resolution like 1400x1050.

Re: WTB New Lenovo USB Keyboard

I don't know how much this will help you, but used Lenovo/IBM USB Keyboard (Traditional IBM styled with blue enter key but no trackpoint) can usually be had for as little as $10 if you go for used, and after some cleaning they work pretty decently.

Re: Change Hard Disk on T43

I personally use the Hitachi HTS541616J9AT00 160GB IDE HDD.
I have two of them, all flashed into IBM firmware (but you only get 128gb available) and works with all stock T43/p/R52 systems after the firmware flash.

T43p & FireGL V3200: Good idea to repsste the paste between the heat spreader and the die?

My T43p has a gpu that idles at around 50-55C no matter how I repaste on the gpu heat spreader. in comparison with the same heatsink, LCD and same CPU, my T43 with its X300 idles in the 30s to 40s. So is it a good idea to repaste the thermal paste between the heat spreader and the actual die? If so,...

Just curious for you Thinkpadders with huge phones, what applications do you guys use to justify the large screen? I don't have anything that is in-between my phablets (from 5.3" to 6.2") and my 15" laptops (I have 14.1" T23 and T43, as well as 13.3" 600, but I am not carrying those around with me ...

Also, I would like to add on that I think the IPS T4xp laptops can make a decent pdf reader if you have a good battery. The 4:3 screen can either fit more content than 16:9, or fits the entire page perfectly should you want to use the laptop sideways like a book.

Re: How many people on this forum own a Galaxy S9/S9+?

After owning any of the above giants, it's really hard to stand something as tiny as the Galaxy S9+! Most pants' pockets are too small for the 8.4" Tab S or the 8.0" Tab S2, but a few are large enough. Do you actually use any of them for things like phone calls, text messages, and the phone oriente...

Reseat the connectors is always the thing that might fix your problem for free.
The pins do usually get oxidized after a few years and do cause conductivity problems.

I don't think heat has been an issue with chips since 2008 and the T61p. I have a Galaxy A3 and a few hours of some emulation will cook that thing. That I can't say, as I don't own either model I haven't done nearly as much research about this issue on them. But I can't say it's not possible. If all else fails, something to keep in mind is many of the 20 series (A2x, T2x, X2x and TransNote) have a fairly well known motherboard design flaw around the implementation of the power circuit. Does the T30 and A31 series have the same problem? All the A31p motherboards I have touched have more ...

Also, I don't think a E8600 can ever be able to utilise more performance power than a GT 1030 delivers. If you are worried about the heat output of the regular C2Q 4 cores, go for the Xeon X3363.

Yes, but 1030 does not require PSU upgrade. It maxes at 30W. Neither does the 750 Ti or 1050 Ti. They all top off at 75W and do not need any 6-pin connectors. They say they need 300W minimum PSU, but I am 100% sure that a 280W PSU is sufficient as long as you don't use the 105W CPUs, provided that ...

Well, $70-80 is the price for new 1030GT in Poland; you can get one for that price in any shop.. HD 7570 with 1Gig DDR5@128bit costs around $35 here, so this is a nice option to test actually. Well, provided that I am using the single heatpipe heatsink right now, it barely handles it, but yes it won't break your computer. CPU temperature goes into the high 80s and sometimes low 90s, but won't go to a throttling point unless you put GPU load on top of it, in which case the CPU skyrockets u...

Re: Laptops: Butchered in vain

I've had a 770ED that eventually killed itself. Power board failed and possibly fried the mobo as well. Otherwise aside from a few mini cracks made by myself from my T43 units as well as the coating on IBM ThinkPad wearing itself off, no damage had been done to the laptops I have.
