can't you just go ahead and turn the blue levels down inside the display calibration settings? That's how I make the yellowed IDTech IPS panels to be more useful.

Re: LF: T43 "MODs": SATA/MB & UXGA/Display ...

Is there any freaky special way for this mod or am I just ignorant enough to use T43p UXGA tape + led-modded UXGA from T60? As far as I know of, the LED mod doesn't work all that well on T4x series. I was talking about possibly saving the cost of a T4x UXGA cable by modding the hard wired jumpers o...

Re: Thinkpad 600 resurrection

Also, as for the problem of large (30GB or higher) hard drive not recognised, make sure that the system partition is less than 8GB or something (and probably better luck with FAT32 than NTFS), and then it boots just fine. I have a 40GB Hitachi 5400rpm hard drive from a T4x computer inside that 600 w...

Re: I bought a locked TP-R40 ? now what ?

I am stuck here with P4 2.0 cpu. Tried with PM 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6 with 1MB L2 but it doesn't work. My other R40 works perfectly with 1.6 PM cpu. I am pretty positive that the Pentium M version of R40 has a different motherboard, as far as I can tell from the manual, as the type numbers are separated ...

Re: ThinkPad T4x LCD cable mod

Well, it is just that I see no users mention about anything like this in this forum, so I ended up figuring everything from scratch! It is not a hard thing to do, but if you mess up, you have to order the new cable (better be the higher resolution one), and wait for the thing to arrive while you use...

Re: Win10 upgrade failed on both my X40 and T43p?

This is very interesting, is there any way for me to get and older version of Win10 (pre Anniversary) as a boot image or DVD? As I said, Anniversary version is the best version for a T43 or T43p or R52 with ATI graphics. Previous versions lack features such as Infrared support and floppy disk suppo...

Re: Win10 upgrade failed on both my X40 and T43p?

Shouldn't the compatibility test catch all these potential problems? For my experience of Windows 10 on my T43 and T43p's, I have far better experience with Anniversary edition than any other version. Previous versions are more buggy and less baked, while later versions have terrible support to Dir...

ThinkPad T4x LCD cable mod

Is there anyone else here whom have done a LCD cable mod to change screen resolutions on the T4x and R5x computers? I was thinking, since T4x/R5x computers use some jumpers on their LCD cable assembly to determine the screen resolution, maybe I can also change that a bit so that when I upgrade from ...

On 512mb single cores. But even back then, 1,024 x 768 was rubbish. If you are saying back then as of when the T22 was around, then no 1024 x 768 wasn't all that garbage, considering it was only around for around 4 years on laptops. Also, I forgot to say that: T/A20-22 suffer from some kind of chipset failure after prolonged use. A3x suffer from the Radeon chip not heatsinked thus desolders after time, tucking thick thermal compound between the chip and the heatsink may help prolong the lifespan. Re: Thinking about buying a T42

If you want the best Windows 98 experience, get the A3x series or T2x/3x series.
T42 works in Windows 98, but not with optimal performance, since you would end up with some sketchy drivers for the mobility Radeon 7500 and 9000, and almost non-working drivers for 9600 or FireGL T2.

Efficiently replacing the backlight of those UXGA panels without side effects took me like 4 tries to practice. Yes I've had that experience with mine before, though I feel like it depreciates much much faster if you keep draining it below 10% or so. I've done that on my Ultrabay battery, thanks to IBM's logic of draining it to 0% before switching to the main battery, and those batteries now only hold around ...

From my experience with 4GB RAM on x86 (non-x64) computers, you get around 3.25-3.5 GB of RAM that is available to use. Unless you have the Core 2 Duo variant of the T60, you cannot run x64 anyways

T60 cables do not have a resolution sensitivity as far as I know of, since the resolution is stored in the EDID chip, not by the cable. So a XGA cable works fine too as long as it is also for 14"

Not true at all - 300MHz should be fine for DVD playback. Really? Right now with the 266mhz PII it couldn't even play back 360p properly (only the MPEG-1 coded 360p videos play fine, and even then it could only do it at 16bit colour). How the heck does a 300mhz PII do DVD playback while it has abso...

There are late R40 models that had motherboards supporting Pentium M processors which ran cooler than a Mobile Pentium 4-M-equipped R40, so that got me into thinking about the worthiness of it. Thing is, are you in any way affected by the fan noise and heat produced by a Mobile Pentium 4-M? in my e...
