Re: What yo do with old T4X Machines.

Another thing you can do with low end T4x is to make them into digital gallery. 14.1" XGA is low end, but they get photo displaying jobs done, especially if you just have a working GMA motherboard with a whole other bunch of parts that isn't enough for a full laptop.

Re: What yo do with old T4X Machines.

Well I would say if your older T4x machines do not have a high-res IPS display, there isn't much of a point using them for your main daily tasks, because in that case the T6x machines do much better and the non-IPS versions are pretty cheap. Instead for that kind of machine, I would suggest you to u...

so maybe a Blu-Ray over USB could fare better. Let's face it, blu-ray in T43p isn't pretty even with my absolute maximum specifications. I have personally tried both blu-ray disc playback and blu-ray file playback. The results aren't pretty. Bluray files use a uncompressed file yea, which explains ...

ThinkPad 600 (non-E) - Possible to get ACPI to work?

I have this ThinkPad 600 (2645-51U) with unofficial 416mb of RAM (256+128+32 onboard) and PII 266, running the very very first version of BIOS that doesn't even have any code except the date of apr/98 indicating it's the very first BIOS that isn't even in IBM's documentation and doesn't even support...

Anyone with T41 model with RAM upgrade experience? Well I have experience with T42 model RAM upgrade, but it is completely the same thing. It is very simple, one is in the base door, one is inside the keyboard. Put 2 reputable brands of 1GB DDR stick in, it should work out of the box. If not, try t...

Rip. the problems don't stop there either. Now instead of southbridge overheating, it somehow transfered to the whole area of northbridge overheating, which explained why the capacitor gave up. Now I have put a piece of thermal-conductive, but not electrical-conductive alumium tape over that area to...

so is <5.3 inch display featuring more than 1080p and phablet featuring more than 2k. the current iPhones resolutions don't satisfy me (their screens are complete crap compared to even galaxy s4), while the 4k Sony phones are a overkill for me.

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

Get a 14.1" laptop and: 1. cut out the plastics that prevent from using 15" cables and use a UXGA one. 2. twist the long metal on the right hinge by 90 degrees to lay it behind the LCD. 3. cut out all the barriers on the top right edges of the lid 4. tuck 15" IPS LCD in 5. get an IPS inverter 6. put...

Re: Reasons why the 14" screen got terrible options.

I guess the terrible 14" screen tradition started after IBM restructured their series. The T2x at that time are the popular affordable mainstream machine, while the A2xp at that time are the workstation machines with highest specs as they can go. Cranking that much of stuff inside there requires a l...

Do you happen to know how to identify the proper NMB keyboards and how the other manufacturer units are identified (FRUs, &c.)?
go to hmm for all R5x and T4x models, they list each type in a table on each of the manuals.

T43 with ultrabay hard drive caddy + sata drive with broken primary hdd slot.
2xT43p NOS systemboards.
those above are used for functionality testing and random download safety testing occasionally otherwise sitting inside my shelf doing nothing

ThinkPad T2x battery pack rebuild - anyone?

The story is I have a lot of 9 cell T4x batteries, because I use T43p as my main laptop. One of them apparently doesn't perform good enough for me to abuse it anymore, so I decided to disassemble the battery pack and put 6 of the 9 cells into a T22 battery which lasts 5 seconds. The result is that i...
