Re: WTB: T60 SXGA Cable for 14" model.

T60 cables do not have a resolution sensitivity as far as I know of, since the resolution is stored in the EDID chip, not by the cable. So a XGA cable works fine too as long as it is also for 14"

Re: Thinkpad 600 resurrection

Not true at all - 300MHz should be fine for DVD playback. Really? Right now with the 266mhz PII it couldn't even play back 360p properly (only the MPEG-1 coded 360p videos play fine, and even then it could only do it at 16bit colour). How the heck does a 300mhz PII do DVD playback while it has abso...

Re: I bought a locked TP-R40 ? now what ?

There are late R40 models that had motherboards supporting Pentium M processors which ran cooler than a Mobile Pentium 4-M-equipped R40, so that got me into thinking about the worthiness of it. Thing is, are you in any way affected by the fan noise and heat produced by a Mobile Pentium 4-M? in my e...

I wont deny I'm tempted ..but shipping could well be the deciding factor.. Shipping is often a problem between the US and the UK .. I am not in the USA. Re: In Search of: 3 T40, T41, T42, T43, R50, R51, or R52 Keyboard Mouse Buttons

My thinkpad's keyboard is an NMB keyboard. I am looking for the 3 mouse buttons for the keyboard, I am trying to find older ones, red and black, because I think they look better. I have a NMB T4x 14" keyboard that has a lot of the key stands broken, its trackpoint buttons are a bit worn, but intact...

Why not add more ram? the lower capacity ones like 64mb or 128mb sticks of pc100 don't really cost much at all, and that I also do happen to have those sitting in my drawer as I'm already even having spare 256mb pc100 sticks

I now have 2- 24x CD drives ..and 3x Floppy drives. If you have Ultrabay 2000 DVD drives lying around, you can mount those into Ultraslimbay by exchanging the drive rail. You can even get CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive in this way and it indeed works in Windows. Since you have the 600X, might as well tu...

Re: IPS display for the older T500 and W500 series

Assuming you buy a non-OEM 16:10 15" IPS display off Aliexpress, what's the relation of difficulty compared to just adapting a T510 display (the whole screen and case)? It's smaller. T500 has a 15.4" display in 16:10, while the T510 has a 15.6" display in 16:9. According to my math, the chassis of ...

Using it for school? You'd probably really like an SSD and a wifi card there.. I was thinking of getting one myself for that exact purpose, but I'm holding it off for now -- I wonder if 240Z XGA will fit in regular 240. As far as resolution goes, I'd be happy if you could stick a 16:10 panel there,...

Re: Eeking out every usable between 2 T60s, 2 1gb ram, and 2 2gb ram pieces.

I use my T43 for occasional web browsing and reading online with that UXGA IPS display. For that purpose, my T43's 2GB RAM and Microsoft Edge with adblock does the job just fine, so I don't see why a T60 couldn't do it unless you have a Celeron and 1gb ram installed in it.

False. I had OEM Micron 256MB from large orders (8) all are PC133 working good in thinkpads of different models A21m, 600X, 600E even T23. You'd get more bang out of pushing the RAM up to 288MB if you haven't already (a pair of PC133 CL2 128MB sticks plus the on-motherboard 32MB). A PC133 stick isn't gonna play with TP600 series nearly as well as a PC100 or PC66 part in the case of 600 and 600E. If you have 128MB PC66 memory in the sl...

So many variations of the 600 series you need to be an expert in this field. lol The most annoying part about this 600 series is that 600, 600E and 600X all have incompatible processors to each other. 13" XGA means that your display can be for any of the three series. A wrong processor means that t...

How long can this state of affairs go on is a whole different question. True, but at some point newer versions of software will require newer CPUs just to run. So he'll be stuck using older versions forever. This process, however, takes far longer on Linux than on Windows - Linux retains better compatibility with older hardware, usually. That said, T43 can run Windows ...
