Re: Have you joined the 3:2 club yet?
As much as I have been trying to solider on with a T60p (4:3) and T61p (16:10), heels dug in, to the ergos and the screens, I'm am eagerly watching 3:2 machines pop up as the old machines chug as a main driver for daily tasks (quite fine as a secondary laptop though). Re: T61p 15.4 - Keep or ditch for W500
A T500/W500 with T9900 CPU will beat a T61p with T8300 (although not by much). Transfer the T61p LCD to the T/W500 (both 16:10) if you like. The T510/W510 already has that crappy 16:9 screen. The ergonomics of the T61p/W500 form factor are just so good. Someone needs to fit a W520/W530 motherboard ...

The best display for the X200/X201 series, in terms of colour and contrast. I assume it doesn't include the tablet version? Because how is better than my X200T outdoor viewable with 400 nits IPS matte panel? No, that statement includes all the Tablet versions. Seems like you're new and a bit uninit...

Re: W500 WUXGA vs other 16:10 15" displays?
I know the Dell M4400 has a dual CCFL display. Any chance this is the compatible one for the T61/W500 etc.? If so I might just grab a whole machine, and butcher it if I don't like the ergonomics. Individual panels for hundreds of dollars are just a bit costly at the moment. EDIT: Looks like the M440...

Re: Laptops: Butchered in vain
Has anyone ever pulled apart a Dell Precision M4600 / M6600? Gees these things make me angry, so many screws just to remove basic components, like the fan. I received one cheap and they didn't plug in the GPU fan, had to basically strip the whole laptop just to plug it in. There are so many stupid c...

Re: T6x 14" SXGA IPS
I found, to my eyes, the 14" screens from a T60 or T61 to be better than newer non-IPS panels. Agreed as well - but that's not saying much, as newer TN panels are horrendous. Some of the worst panels I have ever seen were like immediately post GFC cheap laptops - LED backlit TN.. just nasty as. May...

This is the brilliant go to thread about building a frankenpad, where the OP suggests builds a machine with 42W2028 T61p FX570 heatsink.
However someone in the thread claims its a poor fit. Can someone confirm or deny?

Re: Is this a CCFL or LED inverter?? [PIC Warning]
I just checked the X200T/X201T HMM. It appears some of the models don't have inverter cards, which could only mean that those have LED-backlit screens. If yours has an inverter card, then it's definitely CCFL. I wonder if they still have a "card" even though it doesn't have an inductor on it. That'...

Big thank you. That's what I thought, but I thought I should double check! Need to order one and don't want to get the wrong bit.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 12:37 amDefinitely CCFL. The big part covered in orange plastic is the inductor. LED-backlit screens don't need that.

Do you have a X201T + decent camera? Need a favour!
Just wondering if anyone has a X201 Tablet and a decent camera (with shutter settings).
I need to ask a favour, with regards to using the camera to see if there are strobing lines on the screen (while the brightness is up 100%).
Thanks in advance.

T61p 15.4 - Keep or ditch for W500
As title suggests, I have a T61p, 15.4", 4gb, T8300, 1920x1200 LG screen (good).
I really like the form factor and the screen is excellent, but could do with a bit of a performance boost. Wondering if the W500 with 8GB DDR3 would give a bit of a performance boost?

How to tell if X200T has CCFL or LED Screen?
I really just want to find out whether it's CCFL or LCD (Don't care about hte particular screen at the moment) In the non-tablet versions, this is incredibly easy, pull off the keyboard and the display cable shows the FRU - which is different for CCFL or LED. However on the Tablet, is it display cab...
