I got those once and it was caused by the solders. In your install manual that would be the L0 and L1 pairs.

Solder the smallest wire you can get on the 3rd capacitor from the right (* in this picture). Pass that wire through the board, solder it on the pad just below it, solder the rest.
Bios is probably pre-patched with advanced menu, wifi whitelist removed and LVDS (old integrated display) disabled.

Someone posted a kernel patch (workaround) for the display issue (not showing randomly) on Linux.

Nitro uses stock cables from x240/50/60/70, won't help much finding longer ones. The only working solution I found so far are the extensions. They need to be HQ-LED30-156, 30 pin to 30 pin.

Better late than never. I started a new job at an animation studio and they let me borrow their i1 Display. I'll try to find time to do the other panels I have over the weekend.

If it's the patch from here, it doesn't work, it just disables, doesn't remap. It's meant for the other mods that use USB for backlight control.

I have one of those with the bios but I didn't try it yet.

I don't know of a patch that works with the x220, only x230.

IIRC with the x220 you can use Lenovo's tools, the bios wasn't signed, no need for the pi ans clip. But you won't be able to patch it without the patch itself.

It can be lightly glued (serviceable) and still be pretty strong. Like this but with only the corner pads exposed. Slide a thin bendable ruler under it to detach the pads. But yeah, sides are tight. There might be room for 0.5-0.7mm rubber spacer on the sides though.

Labeled 0R2J-2, should be a 0402 size, 0 ohm resistor. You could replace it with a wire, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement if you have an old dead laptop motherboard around.

You might want to flash the EC again. Release notes say it's still 1.14, should be fine.

It was made for 2.67 or earlier, tested ok with 2.68 and 2.70, will probably work. I'll try to take the time to test it over the weekend.

Here are files for patching the bios. I used those instructions with the raspberry pi and flashrom to extract and flash the bios.

I have a friend that has one, I'll test the W11 vs AUO once I get the new panel. It just arrived in Canada, so it should be early next week.

Those are the extensions I used (needs 2 for nitrocaster's board). evening_hunger recently got the wrong part when ordering those though. Make sure they ship part HQ-LED30-156 if going that route. Those are not needed if you go with the taobao's boards, like this one.

I'm pretty sure you just got it on the wrong side, pictures on the site are bottom and front view. It needs to be folded 2 times on one end to have the correct orientation, something like this. Same in the junction between the 2 ribbons, except with a single fold. Ain't pretty but works...

Wifi and HDD are still working, bluetooth doesn't show up, but that might be because I removed the integrated bluetooth adapter to use an Intel 7260.

I got some 1/4s backlight drops once in a while on the bus with one of taobao's mods. I never had any issue with nitro's boards + extenders.

Those are the same as the one shipped by nitrocaster, won't be long enough.

I didn't find alternative longer cables, but you could get a couple of those extensions, that's what I used with my W11 panel.
