Re: Ultrabay battery prevents main battery from charging?
Installed the power manager. Same issue. I'll just remove the ultrabay battery when I want to charge the main battery. I don't really want to devote any more time to another rabbit hole.

WD Red for data drive in Thinkpad?
Are these safe to use as data drives in Thinkpads? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6822236600 (coupled with an SSD for an OS drive)
I'm not sure how they'll respond to the active protection system. From what I understand, the firmware in reds keep them spinning nonstop.

Re: Ultrabay battery prevents main battery from charging?
The batteries have drivers? I just put Windows 10 on the machine. The Lenovo website is so jumbled and cryptic when it comes to their drivers and software that I kind of gave up on it a while back. But I'll check there if that's the issue.

Ultrabay battery prevents main battery from charging?
Just picked up an ultrabay battery and it seems to work good. Only strange event is once the ultrabay battery is fully charged, the main battery still says "not charging" and stays wherever it's at. Seems the only way to get the main battery to charge is to remove the ultrabay battery. That sound no...

Re: T430s dock ejection
My ultrabase 3 for my X220 had a button that needed to be pressed before undocking, and it had no pci-e slot. Unless the DVD drive was connected via pci-e bus or something.

T430s dock ejection
On previous Thinkpad docks I owned, there was a button to press before actually releasing the machine from the dock. I don't see any such button on my T430s dock. Is it safe to just eject it straight away?

I have a pair of T430s laptops, one with BIOS 2.02 and the other with 2.66. Both have the option to permanently disable AMT.

Re: Disabling Thinkpad Security Features
You cannot set AMT to permanently disabled, but you can the other two. The disadvantage is obvious - you can never enable them again, if you decide you want to. Most home users will never want to. There's definitely a BIOS option to permanently disable AMT. Just checked it again to be sure. In any ...

Re: Disabling Thinkpad Security Features
P.S. Is there any disadvantage to setting all of Intel AMT, AT, and Computrace to "Permanently Disabled"? They're all currently just "Disabled". I don't foresee myself needing any of these, but my life choices thus far have shown I'm not good at predicting the future.

Disabling Thinkpad Security Features
The biggest problem I have with all these security features (Security Chip, AT, Computrace) is there's no source with a concise and clear practical description of what exactly these features do. I did some googling and read over Thinkwiki (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Embedded_Security_Subsystem) a...

Re: T430s advantages over T420/X220
The batteries are a bit of a downer though. They're quite expensive and the extended options have an awkward lump protruding.I'd quite like a proper SD card reader too. I do like how all the ports are on the back though, as It makes it so much neater when used on a desk with an extended desktop. Al...

Cheap and easy way to replace rubber stabilization tabs on X220 Tablet?
From what I've read, the only way to replace with authentic OEM tabs is to replace the entire surrounding plastic trim piece. Wondering if anyone has come up with a cheap/easy way to perhaps superglue in some rubber/plastic tabs that effectively do the same job.

The FHD screen looks like a nice upgrade, although it seems difficult to get hold of the kits. Might be something I'd consider, though, if availability increases.

T430s advantages over T420/X220
I recently replaced my X220 with a T430s, mostly because the 1366x768 resolution on the X220 was getting too low for me. The 1600x900 is a definite improvement, although the TN screen is noticably lower in color and viewing angle quality to the IPS screen on the X220 (are there any easy IPS screen u...

Thanks. I hooked up one of the 65W chargers and it seems to work fine, although a bit warmer than the 90W. Too be expected, I suppose.

T430s w/ 65W adapter
My T430s came with a 90W adapter, but I also two extra 65W adapters. Can I safely use the 65W adapters with the unit? It has Intel HD4000, so no discrete graphics to support. But in my searching for an answer, I read some comments about the T430s possibly having some sort of rapid charge battery tha...

Plenty of posts regarding this subject matter on the forum, BTW. Yeah, so much so that it's dizzying trying to extract streamlined information about the advantages/disadvantages of each approach. I've already scrapped the mSATA idea because it's too hard to find a good converter. Honestly, if the P...

Re: Would you buy a T43 today?
I think they're still fun machines, although, as someone said, they're increasingly less capable on the web front these days. I picked up a T43 on eBay not too long ago, did the bios mod, put a 160gb PATA drive in it, new keyboard, new battery. It's got Windows 7 on it now and it runs fairly well fo...

T61p 14" 4:3 model
How hard are these to find? I purchased one new around 2007 (I think)--it had the Quadro FX570 128MB video, 1400x1050 14" display, and was an all around exceptional machine. I ended up selling it when I moved a couple years later, and I kind of regret it. Every time I look for a T61p these days, I o...

T43 SSD options: SATA-mod vs. Ultrabay-PATA SSD vs. Ultrabay-SATA SSD
I'm considering putting an SSD in my T43, and I'm curious which of the following three options is the best bet: 1) SATA mod (I have some electronics experience, I might be able to do it, but I'm not 100% confident) 2) Ultrabay adapter with PATA interface + KingSpec 128GB PATA SSD 3) Ultrabay adapter...
