Re: Windows 7 or XP up to date T61 ISO's?

This SL410 Restore is working nicely :D
Lots of updates to do, perhaps more than usual because of the Vault 7 / WannaCry ransomware hitting the globe?

I think you need to try the ThinkPad_SL410 recovery disc
Excellent! Thank you for the critically valuable tip! :o
Downloading now at 80KB so hopefully i'll have it in a couple of days :D

Re: looking for T60P recovery discs

Does anyone have these recovery cds (in French, if possible), and can give me isos? You can download the English T60P XP Recovery discs, which I'd previously obtained via some unknown method  With a Torrent program you can retrieve those files. It took me a couple of days for my computer to d...

Re: Windows 7 or XP up to date T61 ISO's?

That list is very helpful :D BIOS update in my T9300 powered T61p left Windows 7 dead and unrecoverable. Presumably lack of activation encountering SLIC 2.1 had something to do with it. As I don't have physical discs, I downloaded T420 Windows 7 to try. No joy. Burnt to USB, but it hung at the Prepa...

Re: T60p TPFanControl for dummies?

there's a setting in the TPFanControl.ini file to switch from the default "mini-mode" to the normal descriptive mode. This is what mine looks like on my T60p: http://dibble-dabble.madpage.com/Screenshots/TPFanControl.PNG I have spent a frustrating hour of searching to find this setting! Change the ...

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

Now the CPU is running stable at 55 C which is something to work with. Wow that is impressively cool. Is this usual for t61 laptops? The test is on a Dell M6300 with the fan running flat out. This has been to work out how to use the graphene properly. Next step is to calibrate the temp of a T9500 T...

Is that idle, or full-load temperature?
Full load with Prime95 for an hour. Room temp around 20C
What temp do CPU's run at in a T61P?

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

Update: OK this is turning out to be harder than I thought. The graphene needed to be furnaced by the graphene doctor to chemically "fix it" using more proprietary process. And I'm straying into areas that I can't disclose, so sorry the details are rather scant at the moment. :BAAAD!: Now the CPU is...

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

Still running tests. I'm having difficulty with stable results after removing the factory fresh (from 2007) hard heat paste pad from the T9300 CPU. Temperature disparity of the 2 cores has risen from 5C degrees to 11C degrees with the change from factory stock paste + heatsink cooling to graphene + ...

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

That would be a T500/W500 heatsink for discrete graphics (not T400). GPU-test: FurMark CPU-test: Prime95 Before you use graphene, the heatsink surface might want some "lapping" to become absolutely smooth. Thank you for those very important details :-) :?: Do those programs allow a timed, or contin...

High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

Hello all :) My friend who is looking for applications for his graphene has supplied some 22mm diameter graphene discs for cooling experiments. They are like paper and so it can't be used lots of times as they will come apart. So I need to do only a small number of tests per graphene disc. Its among...

Re: USB 3.0 using WWAN slot or PCExpress54?

PC Cards have a tendency to physically pull out when you pull something out of them. Aside from that, what is the bandwidth of the card slot versus the bandwidth of the WWAN port? Yes, that is true. I do not expect any difference in the bandwidth between ExpressCard and WWAN. Both are just PCIe por...

Re: USB 3.0 using WWAN slot or PCExpress54?

If yes, then as to how to make it physically work, I'm thinking to cut a hole in the case somewhere to mount a pair of USB 3.0 connectors via an internal ribbon cable to the card. Would it really be better mechanically than using a flush-mount ExpressCard? PC Cards have a tendency to physically pul...

Windows 7 or XP up to date T61 ISO's?

Hello all, Hypothetically speaking and all that... I'm wondering if anyone who knows what they are doing has gone to the trouble of putting in the tender loving and care to construct a T61/P Windows 7 ISO which is up to date with hotfixes etc? Over on the RyanVM forum there was a wonderful job done ...

Re: [T61] Anyone done the Core2Quad upgrade?

Were the instabilities of the QX9300 locking up and requiring a dual core chip to unlock ever solved? I've got myself a QX9300 in hopes of this task, but still a long way off getting around to it. It was a year ago that I was looking into it and now the T61 is pretty old, the threads don't seem so h...

Re: USB 3.0 using WWAN slot or PCExpress54?

As long as there are physical PCI-Express pins in the WWAN slot (and on a T61 I think there are), you can install a USB 3.0 adapter. How will you route the external port outside the chassis? First to establish if it can electronically function correctly. If yes, then as to how to make it physically...

USB 3.0 using WWAN slot or PCExpress54?

Hello all, I've got myself a few Thinkpad T60/T60P/T61P's to try and make a Frankenpad from. As yet I've not done any hacking, just acquiring parts. Using the Middleton BIOS can the WWAN port be used for a USB 3.0 card instead? They are cheap on eBay and so I got one, but I haven't had the chance to...
