I just got my laptop back from Lenovo, who were treating it for power supply issues. Surprisingly, it can be awakened by any USB keyboard input, whether or not I'm using the always-on USB port. It also wakes on USB mouse input. It is a very woke laptop.

Those are normal temperatures for a T60 with an ATI GPU. You can tweak it with TPFC fan settings and high-performance thermal pads, but temperatures in the low to mid 70's are within the design limits of those systems and not cause for worry.

Zoltan - Yes, T60's are very fussy about having a healthy battery (and can be made to freeze by a mouse fart).

That's a T9500 CPU in there, thanks to Middleton bios. I was thinking along the lines you mention, that more work is being offloaded to the CPU. This system is actually quite responsive on 64-bit Windows.
