Thinkfan
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use thinkfan on my X61s but could not find a reliable source for good values in /etc/thinkfan.conf After reading a few forums for an hour or so, I've found that I needed these lines on /etc/thinkfan.conf : (0, 0, 55) (1, 48, 60) (2, 50, 61) (3, 52, 63) (4, 56, 65) (5, 59, ...

Re: Suddenly I ended up with an X61 again...
Nice story
Typing this post and at the same time, running tlp recalibrate on my X61s : Middleton Bios, 250 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM for now. Absolutely perfect for what I use it for : light browsing, file editing (LaTeX editing mainly). And 4:3 ratio is the best !

Re: X61s battery advice
Thanks everyone for replying to me! I finally got a battery from ebay, with 82% remaining capacity... and 0 cycle count. I guess it was a pretty good deal. Battery was made in 2008...

X61s battery advice
Hi, title says it all : I'm looking for experts advice in finding a X61s battery. So far, I've found some sellers on eBay (mainly shipping from HK) : are there some better options? More generally, what do I have to look carefully before buying a battery?
Thanks!
Thanks!

More than ready!
It seems all units are scheduled to ship between 15th and 17-18th of September, by DHL (reddit). So, hopefully, we'll get a review at the end of September

Re: X61s memory
Will 7mm SSD drive fit in my X61s ? I've read there that I need to find a "regular size" (9.5 mm) hard drive ?

Re: X61s memory
Hi RealBlackStuff : thanks for your answer ! The processor (Core 2 Duo it seems) on my X61s is able to handle a 64-bit OS, right ? That's just for confirmation. I'll definitely try to squeeze a few more years of this laptop : I love the format, and it's mainly used for work (LaTeX editing/compiling,...

X61s memory
Hi everyone, I'm a bit noob... so, excuse me if it's a silly question : I own a X61s with currently 2x512 Mo RAM (DDR2 PC5300). I'd like to add some memory : according to the manual, I can only put up to 2x2Go RAM in, and only DDR-667 PC5300. I've read on this forum that any X61* would accept up to ...

Hi everyone, Has someone succeeded to flash Middleton BIOS using a USB key ? I'm using Linux and tried the two following commands (this was the most promising lead after hours of googling... sorry I'm a noob) : geteltorito -o bios.img 7nuj22uc.iso dd if=bios.img of=/dev/sdd bs=512k I can't boot : I ...
