U510 Bad System Config Info -bsod
Hi all, I've really had no major issue with this lappy, but now I'm stumped. Since this passed Tuesday was the first of the month, could this be related to MS monthly updates?? I've tried to do a system restore, but my only 2 options were 4/21 and 4/30. I've tried both, and after a long progress bar...

IBM Demo Units??
What is the difference of a "Demo Unit" and regular unit?? I received one and just want to learn a little bit more about it. Which screen, CPU, PCIe card, is it supposed to have?? When I searched the Lenovo Support page and entered the model number, it came back as "not found". When I searched by th...

If the sticks might be the culprit, I suggest testing them with memtest. Most people let it run 8 passes (one stick at a time), I let it run overnight as the test is time consuming. Just to make sure it was just them working their way loose.

If you remove your hdd, Do you get the blinking cursor after a PXE- Error (OS not found)?? Does it pass POST??
Maybe your hdd may have failed.
If you have a USB to IDE cable you can connect it to a different computer to see if files are still accessible?? If they are, you hdd is still working.

Re: Operating system not found on R50e
ZaZ, is trying to test if your hard drive is accessible. If your hard drive is accessible, you can backup all your information/documents/files in case the drive is about to fail. If you are unable to access your drive, then the culprit was a dying hard drive.

Re: Trade: 14" SXGA+ for 14" XGA - R51
RBS, I don't have another machine to test the screen other than the two R51's that I have. I did however swap the screen in my complete R51 (14" XGA) back and forth, it worked like it should. The MB's on the both the R51 are the same but the bases are different. One of the bases is an R51e and that ...

Trade: 14" SXGA+ for 14" XGA - R51
Well hopefully I can finally finish this project. I am in need of a 14" XGA screen for my R51. I would like to trade as the subject name. If not, looking for a cheap complete lid. I originally bought this from ajkula66 a while ago but never got around to completing it. Now that I'm in need for a spa...

I think more clarification is needed. the system "does not detect hard disks" This should just be right after the IBM boot splash, correct?? Windows XP Just says "Cannot find any Disks" even though a hard disk is in the unit. They are not in windows, are they?? I would verify the drive is seated pro...

I can double check for you tonight with my R51, should be close enough set-up to yours. When I connected mine for the first time, all I saw was a blank/black screen. Then I right clicked on desktop > Properties > Settings. This is where I clicked on the "Display" drop down box and chose the second o...

I was surprised at speed rating of Excellent, but not sure if that means anything.

Not sure If you are still looking, but geeks.com has some refurbs at $299. The were on sale on Monday 05/16 for $259, but they place them at that sale price often. IMHO, better than going to ebay.

I still use my R40 for everyday stuff. It has been a workhorse for me, the RAM will definitely give it a boost and for the price would be cheaper than a newer lappy.
