FS: 2503 Advanced docking station for £5

I have a 2503 Advanced docking station in used condition, which has a non-functioning PCI Express output (for external graphics cards). The dock otherwise still works if you dock a laptop to it, as long as you don't try to install an additional graphics card in it. I wrote down my experiences with t...

Re: Completely stuck with 2503 Advanced dock and Nvidia 1030

@W500tragic Yes I have the modded no whitelist BIOS on my T60. Indeed its a shame about the Ati opengl support, as the mentioned program runs just fine on my T61 with Nvidia in it. About the dock: as I mentioned it works perfectly now, apart from a dmall annoyance. I can't put the laptop to slepp wi...

Re: Completely stuck with 2503 Advanced dock and Nvidia 1030

I have some update. My second 2503 dock arrived a few days ago and yesterday I got some time to test my setup again (Thinkpad T60, Nvidia 1030). And surprise surprise, it worket immediately. So it looks like the first dock that I tried was faulty, at least the pci output part of it. With this new do...

I posted a video documenting the upgrade process on YouTube. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83JR4O-oTDE Wow what a surprise, I had no idea that you were that Sebi from Youtube. I have been a subsriber of yours for quite some time. As soon as I finish work I will check that vi...

Re: T60: AC Power LED goes off upon pressing ON Button

Since the last (Jan 2019) that I posted in this thread about my T60's circumstance, I have put it aside Over the weekend, I took it out, plug in the AC adapter, and it came back to life, miraculously. However, initially, there were 4 singular beeps. I googled, and came to understand, it could be a ...

Re: Looking for 15" T60 screw caps

I'm getting ready to put all of the parts needed for my T601 project together, however the 15" T60 body that I have is missing the screw caps that cover the display assembly's screws. I'd like to have them purely for cosmetic reasons, and haven't been able to find any place that sells them online. ...

Re: Completely stuck with 2503 Advanced dock and Nvidia 1030

Thanks W500Tragic, it's a surprising coincidence indeed haha, especially given the age of these docks. Looks like there are quite a few things that I should play around with in the BIOS. When that other.dock arrives and I can find some spare time, I will try all those suggested settings out, and wil...

Here is a link to a project on Indestructables.com where a Raspberry Pi Zero (RP) is wired into a TP420 ultrabay. The RP uses TP power and is accessed from the Thinkpad (running Win or Linux) via a VNC session. https://www.instructables.com/id/Re-purpose-Optical-Drive-With-RPi/ Too bad the TP perip...

Since you verified that problem is not with your laptop 1st guess: the dock is not 100% operational (i bet on that one) 2nd guess: faulty Nvidia card Obviously what a technician would do: 1. try the configuration with some other graphics card 2. try another dock with the very graphics card in quest...

I have spent more than half a day trying to get working a 2503 Advanced dock with an Nvidia 1030 graphics to no success. I will be really interested in the follow up on this project too. Like how difficult was the mod to perform, things you should be careful with, any suggestions, possible mistakes etc. Hope it will work out, LEDs have a longer lifespan compared to ccfl, and they also don't turn yellow over time. And ...

15.4" T61p, 256MB FX 570M undervolted to 0.9V, ASPM enabled, driver 21.21.13.4201, build date July 2008. Remarkable improvement in temperature, it is no longer a blast furnace. Is it stable under heavy gpu load? Because 0.9V on a 570M is absolutely incredible, even just the fact that it's able to b...

Re: How much can you undervolt your T61 gpu?

EDIT: Awww I should read this thread a bit more carefully. Slic3r uses mostly CPU. Have you checked CPU for stability? Hmmm, so maybe that's the issue. I have to do some more cpu stress test then. Although I still think it's the gpu, as I always get a "display driver failed then recovered" message ...

I wouldn't think so, given the T60 and T61 use the same keyboards so the T61 mobo would have a hole in the same spot for a t60 keyboard. Figure out what is blocking that hole and remove it. Oh boy... Really simple question, but even after an hour of reading Frankenpad build threads, I couldn't find the answer for this: Is it normal, that using a T61 motherboard in a T60 15 inch shell/frame, the bottom middle screw hole for securing the keyboard is not accessible? One thing though, that re-labeled Core 2 Duo E8135 is not a real Core 2 Duo E8135. It is actually a rare PGA478 engineering sample of the Core 2 Duo SP9400 as CPU-Z has correctly detected it. A real Core 2 Duo E8135 would be clocked at 2.66GHz , not 2.4GHz, which was what the re-labeled E8135's BIO...

So I managed to get an intel T9900 cpu to work in my T601 Frankenpad build. I used a small wire to connect B23 (BSEL [1]) to A20 (VCC) on the cpu socket. And the processor works perfectly in the laptop, although with lower max frequency (2.3 ghz instead of 3.06 ghz) because of the 800 mhz fsb (not 1...
