Re: Maxed Out ThinkPad W500 Specifications?

Thank you, Zoltan87. What should I look for to ensure whether the C.P.U. I receive is authentic? Not sure if it's always the case, but visually all the fake processors I got had a more rough texture on the labels, where it states cpu name and the rest. In very close inspection I could see that ther...

Re: Maxed Out ThinkPad W500 Specifications?

Hi, I think I could get my hands on an Intel X9100 C.P.U., for ~$40.00 — per the above comments, I hope this might yield some improvement over my current T9600 model. Would I need thermal paste to execute the exchange, or do you suppose it could be forgone? (No sense in opening up the laptop, if I ...

Using Xbox Elite (One) game controller on Win 98, possible?

I know this post would be a lot better suited for a gaming related forum (Vogon comes to mind), but honestly I don't want to go through the whole registration process, just to ask this one question, and then never use my account there again. So I thought I would try my luck here. I have an Xbox Elit...

Update: The new 11th gen platform design is verifying now and will be done next week. PCB layout design will start after that Will the 11th gen Intel processors be undervoltable? I have read it at multiple places, that you can't do it on 10th gen, because of some vulnerability Intel has disabled it...

Re: T22 CPU undervolting + fan control under Win 98?

I was hoping I could achieve undervolting through software. The thing is,I just don't know enough about the subject to be brave enough to attempt this through hardware mod. I mean I have a T601 Frankenpad in which I run a T9900 cpu with pin mod, but I remember when I did that mod I had very specific...

Been there, done that palmrest on various T23: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=60282 Nice, so reinforcement is definitely worth a try. I will look around if I have some nails that are sufficiently thin and have some texture/ ribs on them, I will probably try to use those, instead of car...

T22 CPU undervolting + fan control under Win 98?

I am trying to find a program that I could use to undervolt the cpu in my Thinkpad T22 under Windows 98SE. Does a program like that exists? Also is there a way to see and even control the fan speed? The hugely useful and popular TPfancontrol program unfortunately doesn't work on Win 98.

Re: JB Weld + carbon fiber for broken frame repair

Is there a recycling symbol on that plastic part you mentioned earlier? Perhaps that would point to which material it actually is. I will disassemble it tomorrow and have a look. I think I even remember that on the bottom of a T60 palmrest it said ABS, but it doesn't mean it's the same for the T2x ...

JB Weld + carbon fiber for broken frame repair

I have a Thinkpad T500 with broken magnesium frame close to the left hinge. I am thinking about trying to repair it with some JB Weld, that I would reinforce with carbon fiber, as I have quite a lot of carbon cloth material left from past projects. Do you guys think this could work, would be signifi...

Just an update on this laptop, I managed to get it back to working order. I completely cleaned it down, re-pasted the cpu cooler, changed the dead rtc battery and put an SSD in it (in an mSATA to PATA adapter). I had the original restore discs, so installed Win 98se and all the drivers too. The soun...

Ultrabay batteries gathered a lots of negative opinions for some reason - they are much better under W10 (as lenovo vantage can put tresholds on them). Not to mention two of them I'm using every day (T61p and T430s) both hold 100% charge after 1,5years of use. Hi Michal, When you're saying "can put...

You can get cooling fins for those RAM modules... If you put in PC2-6400, they run cooler than PC2-5300. Yes the modules I have are PC2-6400, at least they were advertised and labelled like that. any A21e, A22e, or i Series 1800 shares their keyboards with the T20, T21, T22, and the T23. i used to have an i Series 1800 that had its keyboard swapped out for a T2x's keyboard, so that works too. however, it WON'T fit on A21e models that are not MT 2655/2663/2664 systems. those A21e models were...

Yeah because they are lot more mass produced and that they don't fail nearly as often. 16 high density chips means more heat and more chances of failure. I can confirm this, I have noticed that the 4 Gb sticks made the palmrest and touchpad area on my T601 Frankenpad a lot warmer compared to when i...

Thinkpad A21 heatsink mystery

I am facing a very strange situation. I bought a new old stock Thinkpad A21 heatsink, which arrived yesterday. It was indeed new in a sealed bag.
