Re: T60 freezes while in operation - Windows 10

As dr_st said, those temps are insanely high. I had issues with the temps when I bought my t60, and I ended up changing the heatsink assembly and put new thermal paste (MX-4) on cpu gpu. I also undervolted the cpu (core 2 duo t7600, 2.33 ghz), I wrote down my tinkering and experiences in the pinned ...

Re: T60 freezes while in operation - Windows 10

Hi, and welcome to this forum. Just a quick question first, did you disable in Windows (it's somewhere in control panel) the "windows quick startup" option? I know that T60s with Ati graphics have a tendency to boot up with a blank black screen if you don't disable that (I had this problem on Win 8....

Re: Finding a new supplier of 4:3 screens.

Yeah, that would be amazing. Unfortunately I am 99.99% sure that the amount of lcd screens we would need is just way to low, and it just wouldn't be worth the hassle for them to set up a production line to make like 50-100 screens.

Re: Full HD video stutter because of CPU frequency scaling!

Yes I was pretty sure I could do that in BIOS (or even in that program I use for undervolting), but that would be pretty bad for power consumption and heat if the cpu was constantly locked to a high frequency. I wonder if there is a way to leave speedstep working, but be more careful and don't lower...

Full HD video stutter because of CPU frequency scaling!

So I have come across a very strange issue. While I was watching a full HD .mkv video (~9 GB) in VLC media player on my T60, there were micro stutters in like every 3-4 seconds. I opened up task manager, and to my surprise the cpu usage was varying between 40-70%, and the cpu frequency was constantl...

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

Now the CPU is running stable at 55 C which is something to work with. Wow that is impressively cool. Is this usual for t61 laptops? I have a t60 (which uses the older 60nm intel cpu vs 45nm cpu in t61), and before I modified the cooling with a t500 heatsink assembly and undervolted the cpu, the id...

Anyone interested in buying LED mod for T60 (from xiphmont) in the UK?

So I am thinking about buying one of these "daylight LED kit" for my 15 inch flexview T60 from xiphmont, but the shipping prices are quite high for the UK. It would be way cheaper if a few more people would join in buying a kit. I could buy the required number of kits, then keep one for myself, and ...

I would be interested in your temps, I have a NOS t61 mobo for future use (at the moment my t60 with 3gb ram, ssd and ati x1400 still holds up), I am wondering what temps I can expect from that build. If interested I have my t500 heatsink mod and current system temps written down in the pinned "How ...

Re: Frankenpad CCFL to LED panel conversion

Interesting topic, one that I have been thinking about but haven't found the time to dig deeper into it. I remember doing some research, but 90% of the info was in the German Thinkpad forum, and using google translate was extremely crude. So at the end I did not manage to figure out that what kit sh...

Re: Significant temperature rise while using docking station

Yes doing some search I have come across a couple too within my price range, the issue is, postage from the USA is crazy expensive, it would double the price. And within the UK there is literally none on eBay or elsewhere.

Re: Significant temperature rise while using docking station

Yeah that was my first idea to get, unfortunately it's way out of my price point. It would be like £160 shipped to the UK. The one I got was £7 shipped :). If I saw it around £40 max, I would have bought it.

Re: Significant temperature rise while using docking station

It's not that high, from around 53 it rises to 65-ish, but it's still higher than I would like. Fan is on (I use tpfancontrol, also have undervolted cpu and modded cooling, that's why my normal temps are so low without docking). But I would like to keep it under 60. One of the main reasons for me to...

Significant temperature rise while using docking station

So I have bought an "Advanced Mini Docking Station" for my T60. It works like a charm, takes one second to dock it and everything is ready to use as a desktop. Also has a parallel port on it which will be handy if I want to control my cnc controller with my laptop. Problem is, temperetures are signi...

Very interesting thread. Unfortunately those things are way above my skill set ( especially post no.12, it's like reading chinese). Maybe I will come back to it later. It's a shame there is no simple solution to this "fixed rpm" problem.

Re: Intel X9000 on eBay

Wow, they are still like ~£43 shipped, if this is fair, I wonder how much they go for usually. Also I never really understood why would anyone use these CPUs, for +200 Mhz which is pretty much undetectable in any kind of use, you have a cpu that uses 10W more than a 2.6 ghz core2duo, and heats up li...

Re: High efficiency GRAPHENE assisted cooling

I don't think there is much difference between t60 and t500 fans. Also the fans that I bought from eBay for future use (£1,60 each) are t60 and t500 compatible, which would indicate that they are the same. The t500 hetsink is definitely an improvement from the original t60 heatsink. I wrote down my ...

My thinkpad T60 is equipped with Ati X1400, and after installing Windows 8.1 I had no problem installing the driver for the video card, but if I remember correctly, I had issues with uninstalling the driver. Since I made this mod to my laptop I have changed a few things in tpfancontrol regarding the temperature tresholds. I really like my T60, and if I want to keep using it for many years to come, I think it's better to keep the temperatures as low as possible. I start the fan a lot earlier now in norma...

New T43 owner, mixed feelings

I have managed to buy a Thinkpad T43 14 inch model, practically brand new condition and probably never has been used apart from the annoying fact that someone put a BIOS password on it, which I will need to find a way to unlock somehow. But it was cheap, so even it's going to be only a historic disp...
