Re: Can't find proper Wi-Fi drivers for X32

What are the device IDs for the Wifi adapter? Instructions for finding them are here: http://www.dell.com/support/article/il/en/ilbsdt1/sln121527/how-to-find-drivers-for-devices-using-a-hardware-id (it should appear as a network controller with a question mark in the Device Manager) I might made a ...

Can't find proper Wi-Fi drivers for X32

I have installed Windows XP sp3 on my Thinkpad X32, and successfully installed all the drivers for sound, graphics card, mouse etc., but I run into an issue with the wifi drivers. I have been trying to find the right drivers for the installed wifi card (it's the one that it came with from the factor...

Re: X32 Linux/ Ubuntu support, any experiences?

Then why do you need XP? Never mind, I understand your considerations. Still, I would install SP2 on it (no need for SP3). I decided for XP SP2. Will report back when the whole thing is up and running, but I think it will be around a week as I just made the order for a few of the items for this bui...

Re: X32 Linux/ Ubuntu support, any experiences?

What do you plan to do with XP on it? Pre-SP2 XP is notoriously insecure and lacks compatibility with a lot of modern software (and hardware too). Even USB 2.0 support requires SP1, I think. Oh, USB 2.0 is quite important to me. Security should be less concern, as I won't really go online with the ...

Thanks for the replies guys. After quite some thinking, I have decided to the the following: I have ordered a docking station for the X30-32 series, the one that attaches flush to the bottom of the laptop, has internal stereo speakers (much more powerful than the tiny single speaker in the laptop) a...

Re: X32 Linux/ Ubuntu support, any experiences?

And one last thing: the fan tends to make an irritating pulsing/ clicking noise when it's running. It's not constant, but I can hear it in every few seconds, sometimes more, but it always comes up. Is this normal behaviour? Can I change it in some way? Mine sort of whines (whirs up and down) every ...

X32 Linux/ Ubuntu support, any experiences?

So I just managed to buy a Thinkpad X32 about a week ago. My original plan was to make it a Windows 98 gaming machine, but after arrival I was amazed how light and portable this machine is, and how amazing the keyboard feels (interestingly apart from the lid it is in almost brand new condition). I h...

Re: New methods to reduce the fan noise in a T60 or in a T60p

Hello, some news around testing the modified BIOS files for T60/61? Thx. Well, I have found it for the T60 (the new fan rpm levels: 1700, 2200, 2700 rpm). But will have to look on my other computer for the T61 modded EC file. I can send it to your e-mail address, send me a private message. Obviousl...

Could you share a modified bios with us? Interests т60 and т61. I am away for the weekend, but will look up these things beginning of next week. The speeds I have with the modded EC firmware are: 1700-2200-2700 rpm for T60, and 1700-2000-2500 rpm for T61. Please be warned that I use the mentioned s...

Re: New methods to reduce the fan noise in a T60 or in a T60p

Hi, can a similar mode be applied to the T61? I have a T61 with Intel graphics, and 1level is a 2900 rpm speed and it's unnecessarily high. Do you think you could modify the T61? Thanks. Hi, yes the T61 can be modified too, although it's EC firmware is slightly different from the T60. But I know it...

As far as I have heard from people who tried, Lenovo only sells the ThinkPad 25 keyboard to someone who owns the ThinkPad 25 - and it costs 300 $. The best choice if someone wants a ThinkPad 25 keyboard seems to be to buy the ThinkPad 25 while its still available. Is that 300 $ price only a typing ...

I already have a mint T61 for my collection. Although I'm looking for a good condition, I think it would be a shame to use your nice immaculate T61. I don't mind scuffs and scratches as the machine will used and receive wear anyway, so might as well start with something that's already been used. Ye...

I think you can find even cheaper options, I while back I bought a few T60 fans for £1.30 each (shipping included). I haven't put them to use yet, but here are my observations: the axle is solid, and on an original lenovo T500 fan (that I use in my T60 at the moment) the axle has some grooves on it....

It is possible, and you can buy the ccfl tube on eBay. You can even buy a LED kit kit to make the screen a lot brighter than it was originally.

Not completely happy with the heat from ATI graphics I decided to replace the motherboard in my T60p with one that has Intel integrated graphics (on ebay only ~$20 plus shipping). I am a little bit confused. What would happen if someone re-flashes the BIOS on a T61 with the one that contains the microcodes for 1066 FSB processors, but he would NOT make any hardware modification to the motherboard? Could he run a 1066 FSB CPU on lower 800 MHZ FSB? Is it possible to run higher ...

The first reference that comes up with a "intel t7600 cpu pinout" Google search is this: http://download.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/31407804.pdf Section 4 lists the pinout, although there does not seem to be any documentation about undervolting (done by searching the .PDF).
