Re: Undervolting with PIN mod, any schematics out there for CPU?

I quick update: Unfortunately I was not able to do this mod. The two pins thatt need to be connected are not adjacent to each other, but are about 4 pins apart, and unfortunately they are not on the outermost row either. This is a problem, as it means that I would need to route the connecting wire p...

Re: Undervolting with PIN mod, any schematics out there for CPU?

The first reference that comes up with a "intel t7600 cpu pinout" Google search is this: http://download.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/31407804.pdf Section 4 lists the pinout, although there does not seem to be any documentation about undervolting (done by searching the .PDF). You are a legend!!...

Undervolting with PIN mod, any schematics out there for CPU?

Using software for undervolting, the achievable minimum voltage for most Core 2 Duo cpus is 0.95 volt. This is not ideal, as I can already use this on the 12x multiplier, I would like to go under that value on the lower multipliers. Turns out, it's achievable with a pin mod, connecting two pins toge...

Yes, unfortunately they are different. I still might try and order one of them, and see whether I can modify them for my 15" T60.

T60 15" vs 15.4" widescreen hinge differences?

So I am thinking about buying a new screen hinge set for my 15 inch 4:3 Thinkpad T60. Problem is, I can't find any in new condition (not even in used, but I would want new ones anyway). But there is plenty available for the 15.4" widescreen variant (and a million for 14.1"). So I am thinking, is it ...

Re: Improving T60 cooling by cutting away plastic "lamellas/gills"

Well, I decided to go ahead with this modification. I left two of the vertical plastic gills on the left side and at the back too, to help maintain the structural strength of the base there (I was afraid it might will get flexy if I cut away all those things). So it's like this: originally 10 gills ...

Improving T60 cooling by cutting away plastic "lamellas/gills"

So I have been thinking about this for a while now: Could I improve the cooling of my Thinkpad T60 if I cut away those vertical plastic lamellas (or gills/ plates/ whatever the proper English term is) on the plastic base, where the system exhausts the heat around the fan on the left back side, and b...

I've never understood why there is the useless [<] key between shortened left Shift and Z keys on European layouts.
It's not useless, on Hungarian layout we have the í letter on it. Also for people who play fps games it's a huge advantage having an extra key in reach around WASD keys.

Looks like all is good now. Opera version 44 is also nice and fast on my T60. I run that speed test a few times, and it consistently scored between 21-24 seconds (once 35 though, not sure what that was). Google Maps is fine too, eBay feels a lot more responsive too. Re: Which battery sits flush with 15" T60 / T60p case?

I found one of the flat X61s batteries, though the capacity on it is pretty bad. I'd say, re-cell it, but today's cells in that form factor aren't really better than the old ones, whereas the round 18650 cells made a huge leap in capacity. Is re-celling a doable option? I have a few T60 batteries, ...

That is perfectly normal. I would ask you though, have you thought about undervolting your cpu? It would measurably decrease the temps under load.

I don't think that Ati Tray Tools supports undervolting. I know it supports underCLOCKing, but I really don't want to lose any performance. Undervolting would be ideal, as it achieves lower temperatures without sacrificing any performance. Thanks for the tip though, it looks like otherwise it's a qu...

Undervolting Ati x1300 / x1400 gpu in T60? Any solution?

iModFrenzy You should install ThinkpadFancontrol, that's a small program that lets you read all the temperatures your laptop can measure (like cpu, gpu, battery, etc) and you can also fine tune fan levels at certain temperature tresholds.

Hi, and welcome to this forum. Just a quick question first, did you disable in Windows (it's somewhere in control panel) the "windows quick startup" option? Yeah, that would be amazing. Unfortunately I am 99.99% sure that the amount of lcd screens we would need is just way to low, and it just wouldn't be worth the hassle for them to set up a production line to make like 50-100 screens.

Re: Full HD video stutter because of CPU frequency scaling!

Yes I was pretty sure I could do that in BIOS (or even in that program I use for undervolting), but that would be pretty bad for power consumption and heat if the cpu was constantly locked to a high frequency. I wonder if there is a way to leave speedstep working, but be more careful and don't lower...
