Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

There is no advantage to putting the 12.1'' into the 14'' shell. You can build an X61 with practically all the same specs. If you want a 14 inch model, then there are some decent 14 inch SXGA+ panels. Yes not IPS, but still pretty [censored] good. Is there a place where I could find a list of decen...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

Okay, then it will be easier as you can switch to 1-channel LVDS output with a switch. But for such a beautiful machine, such an ugly hack doesn't seem appropriate... Have you ever tried the QD14FL07? A plug&play 14" SXGA+ panel from a Dell with 1:450 contrast ratio and sRGB colours. Of course not ...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

1. The data lines use differential signals, which require either a micro coaxial cable, or two wires twisted together (twisted pair). 2. The wires used are quite small (AWG 32+), same with the connectors (0.5mm spacing IIRC) 3. IIRC the wires should all be the same length, due to the high signallin...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

A major issue is connector and pinout compatibility: the X61T LCD panel has a 20-pin connector, while the T60 uses LCDs with a 30-pin connector. You need to fabricate an adapter cable to properly interface the two. Another issue is how to mount the screen on the T60's larger lid. I might 3D print a...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

This will be a massive amount of work for no benefit. Why not use that panel in an X60/X61? Same power, but smaller and lighter. If you need an optical drive, get an ultrabase for it. To fit the X6xt panel into the T60, you'd need not only to somehow fix the panel securely inside the bigger frame, ...

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

I have experienced using a 12.5" for a friend's and have number of 11.6 and 13.3", I consider this reasonable enough for portability and weight bit better. I do have 3 14.1" notebooks (thinkpad usually) and find it too limiting and bit heavy for only about a inch larger (what a hoot) where 15.4/15....

Re: X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

I know it would look like that but it's also my only choice for having an IPS 14" T60. I would use the 15" T60 but it's significantly heavier and I like a little bit of portability. I'm trying to judge how plausible it is.

X61T SXGA+ IPS Panel into 14" T60?

I'm interested in swapping a 12" X61T IPS HV121P01-100 or HV121P01-101 panel into my 14" T60. I know that the panel would be slightly smaller than the frame but I think I can get it to fit in. Is this in any way plausible? What kind of conversions would I need make in order to connect it to the moth...

And if you want it even brighter (and spend more money), you can ask Monty for a daylight LED kit.
I think that's what I'll do, thanks! Do you have the daylight kit, and if so, hows it working out for you? Was the installation difficult?

Is a 14" T60 LED mod possible?

As the title says, I'd like to know if theres any possibility of doing a led mod on the T60's 14" screen. If so, what parts would I need and where can I get them?

Re: T70 with Quad Core i7 mobo for T6x is coming!!

Thanks for your response! Since it seems to be at a constant turbo boost, are the temps good? Much heat at the bottom of the laptop? I've spent a lot of time experimenting with external GPU connections. Running a GTX 1080 from an M2 or mPCIe slot works, but it disables the internal display. The inte...

Hey Seggybop, you've been using the T70 for a while now right? Could you give some thoughts on the general experience, issues, etc.?

Re: T70 with Quad Core i7 mobo for T6x is coming!!

I haven't had any time to really test yet but I did run the OCCT stress test to check the temperature, and it was really good that I did. It almost instantaneously hit OCCT's default 85 degree safety limit and terminated the test, reporting it'd reached a max temperature of 95. To check the limit I...

I received the T70 motherboard today. I'll give a report once I've had a chance to assemble everything.
It was the first batch right? Could you find load temps after assembly?
