T460p ssd configuration options

What are all the configurations of different ways you can install one or multiple ssds in the T460p? Would like to know before buying one... Can't justify a 1TB SDD so multiple drives might be the way to go... Can it be done? I can't add an additional SSD to the cd drive since it doesn't have one.. ...

T440P multiple USB ports not working

My T440p is hooked up to an ultra dock and the usb ports are being funky... i went to move my keyboard and mouse to other ports on the dock (from usb 3.0 to 2.0 ports) and they would not come back even plugged in to the same ports as before they died and they were not coming back... A reboot of the ...

Re: T440p CPU Upgrade suggestions

Blame Micro$haft's W10, because it doesn't fully switch off when you shut down. Unless you fix it in the power options. (Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' then untick the 'Turn on fast starup' box; need to check after major updates that it didn't get reset.) If I click 'shut do...

No it can only handle vga+internal or displayport+internal or displayport+displayport+internal (via docking station) on Intel graphics machines Just need the dock with 2 displayports to be able to output to two monitors and the built in screen at the same time.... Re: Did my T440p died? Help me diagnose it

If you need Windows you don't necessarily need it on bare metal. I prefer to confine it to virtual machines which never connect to the internet and run Linux hosts. I like being able to boot to any snapshot including a new clean install at will. I like never having to update Windows unless it serve...

Re: X240/250/260... differences and questions

The best way to get your questions answered is to search for "XXX Platform specifications", where "XXX" is the Thinkpad model you're interested in. It will take you to nice PDFs that summarize the main points, and you can compare. All three models use the same docks your T440s can use. I'm not fami...

What are the biggest differences between the 3 besides the CPU and trackpad? I'm deciding on one to replace my T440s (since it maybe going to my mum) I'm not wanting a powerful one and only need 8GB of ram also since these machines might not include the bridge battery and if there isn't, is there a ...

Re: CPU in T440p

I know it's not officially supported by Lenovo but would it be possible to get an i7-4702MQ or i7-4712MQ working on a T440p? I only ask as if I find out what's best for my usage (higher clock speed vs higher core count) I might go with one to reduce heat and/or power usage.. although 4th gen CPU's ...

IBM Servers are generally louder than early HPE and Proliants post Gen6 (Westmere) are in my experience too loud for home use. The IBM are generally nicer than HPE and not restrictive on which HDDs you can use (Gen 8 and Gen 9 Proliants give no blinken lights if you don't use HPE firmware HDDs). I'...
