Re: T42p's battery won't charge while the laptop is turned off

This is only a guess: I suspect your charger may not supply the proper voltage and a possible Thinkpad's Z-Diode blocks the current. Only if you feel safe for electrical testing you may measure the charger's output voltage on the plug you insert into the Laptop. Be carefull, that you do not short pl...

AC-DC supply voltage limit

IBM Thinkpad AC-DC supply has an output of 15,6V according to the imprint. Most Laptops AC-DC converters deliver 19V. Does the T4x or more precise the T41 electronic can handle a 19V DC input? Does anybody accidentially plugged in 19V DC ?

Re: Recommended mSATA-to-PATA adapter for use in T4x?

I use a super duper low budget chinese msata=>IDE converter. You may give it a try since the DeLock adaptor ist somewhat expensive. The problems I had and discussed also in this forum seem to be related to the WLAN card I exchanged together with the HDD.

Re: Wake up after suspend problem on T41 with new SSD on IDE2SATA controller

Update "Fake Problem" (for SSD) Yes, I have to admit, after all my fixes I was too enthusiastic when I observed a wakeup after suspend, which was with wlan switched off. When I replaced the HDD with a SSD I also replaced the broken IBM wlan card with a TP-WN861N card. I have learned my problem isn't...

Re: Wake up after suspend problem on T41 with new SSD ...=> SOLVED

. . . on IDE2SATA controller FYI: After some time I again surfed the net and found the following solution on a Crucial forum Webpage. Please look here: http://forums.crucial.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ssd/thread-id/18655/page/2 In brief: The SSD have automatic "repair" mechanism whic...

Wake up after suspend problem on T41 with new SSD on IDE2SATA controller

Dear vintage friends, I own a second hand company T41 with WinXP Pro and some good software installed. All properly licensed but no disks (No option for WIN 7). I exchanged my HDD with a SATA-SSD on a SATA2IDE adaptor. I cloned the old HDD with Acronis. With help of this forum I overcame an UDMA2 is...

Re: Successful upgrade of T42 with Crucial M4 128 GB mSATA SSD

Pressing FN/F4 for sleep mode and press POWER for wake-up is eactly what I have done. => What particular powersaving settings shall I look for? Linux is not an option for me Btw. on a different vintage Laptop with an IDE SSD "Suspend to Disk" works very well (and of course "Suspend to RAM" too). Tha...

Re: Successful upgrade of T42 with Crucial M4 128 GB mSATA SSD

Moin, Thank you for your warm welcome! I progressed, but I'm not done yet. Updating to BIOS 3.2.3 and Enabler 3.0.4 helped. The controller states a UDMA5 connection. ChristalDiskMark shows some 80MB/s for 512bit access and over 20MB/s for 4KiB access. This read/write performance is well acceptable I...

Re: Successful upgrade of T42 with Crucial M4 128 GB mSATA SSD

Hi folks! I just inserted in my T41 a 128GB SATA SSD with PATA adapter to replace the Samsung drive. Now I also face the UDMA 33 issue. The tool DriveInfo states the SSD supports up to UDMA 6. For he controller there is only a "yes" for UDMA 2. I did the reinstallation of the driver without success....
