Re: EU seems to be in danger... My home country Ireland close to the brunt...

Just another ordinary day in Europe http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-40010124 :( What really makes me angry is the cynism of EU politicians and their false statements because we know they'll do absolutely nothing to prevent such terrible things again. Just waiting for another Macron's ...

Re: Silicone spray on fan?

Are we talking about doing this with the fan in place? If so,I wouldn't do this either. The likelihood of the it getting on the axle shaft is very slim and in the process, you'll get it all over the inside of the fan housing, possibly giving dust something to stick to. I prefer to remove the fan and...

Re: Which battery is recommended for X220?

I know, but I do not have so much money for a battery... And whatever... It's better than the battery I'm using right now (which only have 60% of design capacity...) There are plenty of decent quality generics for around $20 if you're on a budget. The difficulty is in identifying bad ones, since th...

Re: Pliers or grips to remove stripped wifi screw shafts *PICS*

Can you post a pic of the standoffs as they are now? They can be removed from the motherboard without too much hassle but you'd need to use care so as not to damage the socket or any components in the area. I don't know if you'll be able to get replacement standoffs that match, but it shouldn't be t...

Has anyone in this thread actually have ever had 16Gb running in their T420?

Iirc the T420 chipset does not support 8Gb SO-DIMMS in any configuration.

This has been discussed before.

Brad
Yup, I run 16GB ram in my 420 and my X220 without any modifications needed.

I agree completely. For 15 bucks it's gotta be worth a shot. The T430s isn't as sturdy as the X220, imo (the T430 non S is like a tank in comparison). The prospect of a FHD or higher res screen upgrade makes the 430s very attractive though (the non S models have been put on the back burner, I believe). The X220 does indeed have USB 3 on the higher spec models...
