You don't have to apply for it, every citizen got it but yeah - I got mine. Selling this and perhaps some of the junk I have lying around will be like a 2nd stimulus.
I am somewhat sentimentally attached to this thing but it doesn't make sense to keep it when I am still happy on the X200.

Re: Upgrading from an X220? T420 or X230?
Going to a T420 is not an upgrade from an X220. I have both T420 and T420s and I always grab my X220. When my X220 was out of commission for a few days while upgrading wifi chip, I used the T420s with 1600x900. Boy was I glad to go back to the X220! It's the perfect size and IPS screen is a lot more...

I can send you my T400 for free. It was a libreboot project and I lost patience putting it back together. Although the libreboot flash went well and it boots/runs fine. I would otherwise throw it away but would be glad to see it go to a new home for someone's libreboot project who can dedicate more...

SOLD: Meticulous X62s, SXGA+ NOS case, X60 Reserve Palmrest
This X62s was built from new old-stock with a X61s bottom and X60 top with a super-rare SXGA+ (1400x1050) AFFS (IPS) with CCFL. The heatsink and fan are from an X200s for cool computing on the i5. The CPU shows up as an i5-5###U and is most similar to an i5-5200U but with a 2.00 Ghz base clock. The ...

Re: mini DP to HDMI -- explanation?
mDP to HDMI usually works if it's a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 port.
My X62s has mDP and mini-HDMI, but it has no thunderbolt support. The mDP only works when going to DP or VGA.
mDP -> HDMI or mDP -> multi adapters don't work.

How much is a bare X62 board (with heatsink) these days? Recently got a dead X60 from a cousin, its system board had some burnt components between the top of the WLAN slot and the HDD bay. :o The X62 board, bare or not, is 90% of the cost of a full X62 machine. At this point, most boards in circula...

I've accepted that my battery is dead and ordered a replacement. I'm absolutely in love with the machine and haven't experienced many of the issues I've read about (my fan is almost dead silent), though i've noticed that scrolling down webpages and playing games causes a terrible screen tearing eff...

Re: palmrest sticker
Followup: I figured out I have a 15th anniversary palmrest with rubberized coating. That explains why the sticker doesn't fit properly.
It should have a 15th anniversary sticker which is longer like shown here:

Re: memory upgrade for x230
Low voltage RAM is the more stringent standard. In other words, you can put low voltage RAM in a standard voltage slot, but not the other way around. The X230 uses standard voltage, so any DDR3 or DDR3L will work. It should support up to 2400 MHz or so but speeds that high are exceedingly rare. 1866...

Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes
AFAIK, the mDP doesn't support DP's HDMI/DVI alternative mode. There are, however, active adapters that decode the DP signal and encode it as HDMI. These should work, but I haven't tried yet. That certainly sounds like the issue. Regarding the mini-HDMI port, has anyone gotten it to work? I'm not s...

Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes
I got my MiniDP working with a VGA adapter. Neither a MiniDP to HDMI nor MiniDP to DVI adapter would work, though. On the bright side, the VGA one was fully cooperative, and hotplugged without issues. This was also my experience. I tried a mDP adapter to combo VGA/HDMI/DP and it didn't work. The sm...

Re: Advice on buying a Thinkpad X60 in 2018
IIRC, the necessary documentation was never released by Intel. In Coreboot's supported motherboards page notice that there are no boards listed that have the Intel 965 chipset (which the X61 and T61 have). Interesting. But for both earlier and later chipsets the documentation was released? Isn't th...

Re: Advice on buying a Thinkpad X60 in 2018
It sounds like what you want is an X60 shell with X61 Penryn motherboard. The best ones are T8100, T8300 and T9300. In this day and age, I would personally not settle for anything else. The T9300 is very rare but the T8300 should be attainable. The 2X4GB DDR2 kit will be very expensive and elusive, ...

These batteries are so hard to find, I finally found one and it was DOA despite it being new old stock. It was manufactured in 2013 and dead as a doornail. Why aren't there any 3rd party batteries with the prismatic form factor? I imagine the modern day cells could pack a lot more mAh than back when...

There is no advantage to putting the 12.1'' into the 14'' shell. You can build an X61 with practically all the same specs.
If you want a 14 inch model, then there are some decent 14 inch SXGA+ panels. Yes not IPS, but still pretty darn good.

The same-sized IBM sticker from my X60 lid doesn't quite fit the spot on the X61s palmrest. Is there another sticker that fits the palmrest or would I need a different FRU palmrest?

Re: What computer have you had for the longest? When did you get it?
I just retired my QX6700 about 6 months ago. It still works, but I finally got something faster to replace it.
It was purchased in Dec 2006. That was just over 10 years of service. I believe it was the very first x86-64 quad core by Intel and it had 8GB DDR2. Snappy even by today's standards.

My apologies if it should be WTB, I wasn't sure what the difference was.
I'm looking to buy a T61 with 1400x1050. T60 frankenpad with a T61 mobo is ok. I prefer a Penryn but I will consider other offers.
