Re: W520/W530 1080P FHD Screen Quality?

The W520 FHD LCD isn't IPS, but it beats nearly all other TN panels. I'm currently on an X250 with an IPS FHD LCD and the W520 LCD is almost on par in terms of image quality, but you would have to do a side-by-side comparison to tell. If you go for a W520 or W530 you will not be let down by the FHD ...

Re: T420/T430 FHD kit!

I had a few hiccups along the way but my T420 is finally equipped with a matte FHD LCD ( B140HAN01.3 ) and it looks really nice! As with the glossy LCD I tested, there's no flicker at all. This was the fourth LCD I received, these are the problems that I had; -The first LCD I ordered was glossy -The...

Re: T420/T430 FHD kit!

I ordered this board from the ebay listing, it came way sooner than expected! I ordered an LCD but I received an LP140WF6(SP)(C2) - a glossy LCD! :BAAAD!: Slightly dissapointed, I quickly connected it all to test that it works. The adapter board does the job just fine! I cycled between min & max bri...

It's not too difficult - it will be worth it when/if re-inserting the cable will fix your issue! :) Here's the X220T HMM: https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_p ... 175_04.pdf

Re: Upper track point buttons stopped working

What model ThinkPad are you using? It reminds me of the issues I've experienced with ALPS touchpad/trackpoint models, where you would have to find a way to install the synaptic drivers to get the trackpoint buttons to work. In Device Manager, try and find the Hardware ID of your mouse - Lenovo may h...

Re: problem with DisplayPort to HDMI cable Report this post Quote

'Out of range' indicates a refresh rate issue - the Thinkpad might be outputting a 60Hz display but your TV may only support 50/59Hz. You should be able to change this in either the Intel or Nvidia control panels.

Re: General maintenance tips and tricks

Keyboard and touchpad wear just comes with use, but I'm a firm believer that washing your hands before typing helps reduce wear due to all the oils that our bodies produce - these can add to the shiny effect on keys. Software is a big part of maintenance and whenever I setup, diagnose or update TPs ...

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p

I've messed up one of my adapter boards...I managed to destroy a number of docking pin connector pads - a combination of inexperience, too much heat and bad flux (which I probably didn't need). The question is, am I able to salvage them? The bottom side of the board looks good so I should still be a...

Re: T440s panel in T440?

I've upgraded a T440 with a FHD display, no problems with it at all. The only thing to make sure of is that you're buying a non-touch LCD for a non-touch T440 as the touch screen models require a different screen cable. :)

Is there anything upcoming for non-S T420/T430's? I'd be interested in a WQHD kit for an S model but a FHD or WQHD kit for a regular T420/T430 would be way cooler IMO.

Re: Time for a new ThinkPad - can't decide

I would suggest a T440P, they have 2 DIMM slots, 1080P displays, good cooling and the choice of a 9 cell battery! The touchpad swap that Thinkpad4by3 mentioned is also a lot easier, you just have to remove the palmrest/keyboard assembly to change it IIRC. I've seen them go for £200GBP (around $260US...

As fun as it is to bash Windows 10, I think it may have to do with the multi-touch settings on the touch/trackpad? I reckon your TP driver was changed my M$. Maybe try re-installing, or even uninstalling the TP driver and see how it goes.

Re: SSD Drive Install Guide - T-61?

Your SSD will screw into the caddy just like a regular 2.5" HDD, and it should include a plate that makes it thicker (so it is as thick as a regular HDD) but I doubt you will need to use it. You can just place the caddy back in the same rubber rails and it should go back in the machine just fine. Th...

In pretty much all cases it's best to download the latest driver, but my advice would be to install Lenovo System update as it tells you which drivers you need and lets you choose what to install. :thumbs-UP:

I think that's the reason, though I reckon it's just Lenovo trying to be cheap by making it slightly cheaper to design. Dozens of the T61s we have at work (14" 4:3) have had the smaller hinge on the right side snap, they're rubbish! :P If you're wondering whether you can use T60 antennas on a T61 an...
