Re: Make bootable USB with Middleton BIOS upgrade?
I previously used this guide to get a bootable USB stick sorted out - http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads ... ost8257028 - and I did it on a system running with W7 Pro x64 OS.

Re: Vote: which is better? L420 vs T430 keyboard.
L420 has integrated numpad, index key, and more Fn combinations so it's a more functional keyboard. It even has browser keys as Fn combos for Fn+PgUp and Fn+PgDn, however this is entirely a gimmick because Alt+Arrows do the exact same thing!! +1 - Absolutely hate the chiclet style keyboards and I'm...

@subspace - If you can't get the spacebar sorted out please let me know as I do have older model keyboards, which are compatible with your T61, that we can do a cheap deal on.

Re: W500 Recovery media
Different ram slots is the case for T510 v. W510. W500 is the exact same laptop as T500 just with W500 name badge, 4000 model number, no 1280x800 option, and FireGL GPU that is the same as Radeon 3650. But yes drivers are the exact same. Cheers for that, as it was working last week when I was helpi...

There are also no drivers anymore on the Lenovo website.... Lenovo moved the device drivers and software utilities over to their End of Life Product Resource Website for the older product lines - if you go there you'll be able to find what you need. :D EDIT: For the section listed as 'Device Driver...

Windows 7 & Lenovo Device Driver Versions
Evening All, A tad embarrassing to ask  but is there a specific Lenovo device driver version list out there for doing a clean install of Windows 7 (x64 Professional) onto T61 & T601 FrankenPads (all 8895-CTO, Intel X3100 GPU based motherboards)? I ask only as the ThinkVantage System Update uti...

Re: Quick Question Reg. Additional Software Testing of a FrankenPad (for Upcoming Marketplace Listing)
People will want to know the mobo P/N or FRU, to see if it is natively Penryn-capable. You should install Middleton's BIOS. And most important: what is the manufacturing date of the mobo, especially if it has nVidia graphics. If nVidia, you'll also need to test that mobo's GPU with Furmark for say ...

Quick Question Reg. Additional Software Testing of a FrankenPad (for Upcoming Marketplace Listing)
Evening All, I'm presently rebuilding a FrankenPad (T61 15" UXGA, T9500 CPU, 8GB RAM, Intel 6205 WiFi, 240GB SSD & 750GB HDD, via 2nd HDD Caddy) for listing for sale here on the Marketplace - the plan right now is to get W7 Pro installed onto it (along with patching the OS & running device driver up...

Re: And another reason to avoid Micro$haft's W10
How about using Windows 8.1, with third party utilities??? Just wanted to throw that out there, as it's supported by Microsoft until January 10th, 2023 so it has an additional three years worth of support from Microsoft and you should, in theory, be able to to prevent any information grabbing via th...

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad x200s
Hiya I would like to do upgrade on processor in Lenovo Thinkpad x200s. It comes with Core2Duo L9400 and I would like to go for C2D Extreme slb48 3.06GHz. Will it work with that laptop or as far as I can go would be Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9600? Thanks Assuming that you have a WXGA+ LCD in your X200s (I...

Re: What computer have you had for the longest? When did you get it?
My X200s - I've had it for nearly five years now, got it back in late 2012, and it's been a very solid reliable little runner for me. It's had a two new batteries and a replacement keyboard over the years - on top of that it's been upgraded to a maximum 8GB of RAM, 480GB Crucial M500 SSD and 3rd Par...

Re: Price Check: FrankenPad, UXGA LCD (UK)
I'd say 500-600$ 100 for the ram 100 for the storage 200 for the screen 100 for the mobo 50 for everything else. Maybe 100 for everything else if case is in good condition. Sent from my SM-G550T using Tapatalk Thanks for that - it was in pretty decent condition the last time I saw it (November last...

Price Check: FrankenPad, UXGA LCD (UK)

Re: Hacked Off!!! My Beloved R500...
Sorry to hear about your loss. But if you liked your R500 so much, maybe you should have gotten another R500/T500. They are cheap and cheerful nowadays. And with a beautiful Sharp WUXGA screen (1920x1200 and CCFL) you'd still be the envy of your colleagues, back on a classic keyboard and have the m...

Re: Hacked Off!!! My Beloved R500...
If your signature is accurate. Your greatest loss was your 480GB SSD and 2TB HDD. If you considering a T500 with a 2.8ghz processor or a W500 with either the 2.8ghz or 3.06ghz processor you could have a nice backup to your L430. You do not necessarily need the 1920x1200 display. 1680x1050 is all yo...

Re: Hacked Off!!! My Beloved R500...
This goes to show that Scottish thieves are much more discriminating than their American cousins... You could just pick up a W500. This is your chance to "upgrade." I've always noticed that my W500 has a dim screen, suitable only for indoor use. Was this the case with your R500? LOL They've probabl...
