Re: LCD backlight

Its probably not worth getting a new screen for it.. If you have the patience, get a replacement CCFL from lcdpart.com. It will cost you around US$ 26 including shipping to Europe (shipping from San Francisco and handling costs more than the CCFL itself but it is well wrapped in a special box). How...

Re: T40/p-T43/p, R50/p & R52 Embedded Controller Internals

See http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=69539 for a mechanical workaround (drilling a hole into the fan) of the T43p fan noise issue.

Re: Total solution for absolutely ZERO oscillatory noise in t4x

Confirmed! Thanks, AdaSch! With the hole in a T43p long fan you can still hear a little whiny noise that changes every 5 seconds but it is much much quieter -- the draft of the air is louder (the draft sound might have increased a little bit but I'm not sure about that).

Lenovo Service Parts Ordering For EMEA

however - if i could get a hold of a spare fan - i'll try to drill that hole... You might be able to get a spare fan (for around €20) from one of the IBM online shops (you might have to order from a different country if they don't ship to a private address): http://lenovo.com/think/support/site.wss...

Inverter Card

It looks like a T43p is falling apart less than a month after warranty expires... Anyway... The inverter (high voltage module for the LCD backlight) uses an MPS MP1015EM in burst mode with DC input from the EC's D/A converter. It's on the same little board as the 13 LEDs below the LCD screen. [Well,...

Fan Hardware

The fan itself includes also some electronics since it doesn't use a regular DC motor. It uses a Sanyo LA6581M (bipolar transistor logic single-phase full-wave brushless fan motor driver) using a Hall effect sensor. The motor itself uses 4 coils connected in series (only 2 wires to the IC). While I ...

T43p Fan Hardware Mod

User AdaSch has posted some pictures of a hardware modification to heat sink and fan. My interpretation of the associated text is as follows: The GPU on T43p types 2668-[GH]xx, 266[89]-C[4A]x and 2687-D5x is an ATI MOBILITY FireGL V3200 (M24 GL-128) with a different height than other GPUs. Re: T40/p-T43/p, R50/p & R52 Embedded Controller Interna

I would like to read more detailed info about various modified versions; to learn exactly which model-numbers they work for, and eactly what's been modified in each version. I do not know of anybody who has done experiments with this. I had my T43p with one of the modifications running on version 1...

T40 Fan Wiring

On a T40 system board, the motor of the fan is driven by a MOSFET that is driven by a transistor which is connected to P44/TMO1 (pin 3) of the H8S. There is probably some low-pass filtering there (smoothing/delay). The fan tacho is connected to a transistor that connects to P62/FTIA/TMIY (pin 80) of...

Each battery pack of the newer ThinkPads contains its own little computer to take care of its operation (monitoring/charging/discharging). For example, a 3rd-party battery pack for a T4x/p from FLT consists of 3x2 Li-ion cells ( ICR18650NH from HYB ) and a smart battery pack module (with a GammaComm...
