Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes

I picked up a 3rd batch X62 semi-recently and it's very nice, aside from the palmrest heat. For the WiFi, can someone confirm that this is a good replacement card that will run cooler than the stock one? This is the card that most people use, the most recent Intel with an mPCIe interface and probab...

Re: A few questions about the x62

With the power saving features properly set up (CPU reaching package C-state 7), you can expect 4-5hrs of web surfing on a 4 cell and 8-10hrs on an 8 cell battery. This won't vary much between the i5 and i7 versions. Never tried YouTube for such a long time, but playing GTA V, I get about half the b...

Re: LF: T70 board

I might consider selling my T70 as I'm hardly using it since I have the X62, however, I'd prefer to sell the complete package except SSD, consisting of: -T70 kit (board, fan, two SATA spacers for the 15" model). 1st batch, 7700HQ -T61 14" shell with modified structure frame to accept the T70 board. ...

Yes, from eBay seller ftdlcd. I plan to mount the display on the last weekend of this month (assuming it arrives in time), will report then. I am looking forward to your report. I have installed the LP140QH2-SPB1 in my GF's T420s now. Works fine with the mod kit. It doesn't move horizontally, so I ...

I did not order the LP140QH2-SPB1 yet because the display has no mounting holes :/ [...] But I am kind of afraid that I need to glue the display and can not change it anymore. I'll make some mounting tabs out of thin sheet metal (probably T61 spare parts that were obsolete after the T70 conversion)...

Why you did not choose the LP140QH 2 -SPB1? Because that is not a screen that I've seen mentioned. It doesn't show up on panelook.com also: http://www.panelook.com/product_list.php?keyword=LP140QH2-SPB1 It's the panel used in the X1C 17 while the QH1 was one of two screens used in the X1C 16. Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes

AFAIK, the mDP doesn't support DP's HDMI/DVI alternative mode. There are, however, active adapters that decode the DP signal and encode it as HDMI. These should work, but I haven't tried yet. That certainly sounds like the issue. Regarding the mini-HDMI port, has anyone gotten it to work? I'm not s...

It's possible and it's been done several times in different variations on the German forum:

I found one last year on eBay, in perfect condition. Inside an Inspiron that was stored as a backup for many years in a company. Arrived with a broken screen :(

That was the only one I have ever seen since I started searching. Good luck!

Does always on USB consume battery even if there is nothing plugged in? How?
The voltage regulator providing 5V to the USB ports isn't 100% efficient. There's always some idle current.

I'm on it, but it's not easy. I'm trying to use Lattice Crosslink with the OpenLDI/LVDS to MIPI DSI IP as an adaptor. Sweet. Does the lid require modding? That would be my first practical concern. I have yet to remove the touch glass in front of the display, but I wanted to get the electrics workin...

Re: IBM Thinkpad Battery Re-Celling Battery Rebuild Tutorial

One very important thing to keep in mind is that you have to balance the new cells before soldering them in parallel. Simply put them in parallel with a 10 Ohm or so resistor in between and leave them this way overnight. Otherwise, the unregulated balancing current may result in fire. Happened to me...

Re: Don't get ripped off on an SXGA+ screen for your X61/X62

By the way, what are your thoughts about the 12.3 UXGA inside an X61? This is the panel http://www.panelook.com/LD123UX1-SMA1_LG%20Display_12.3_LCM_overview_26101.html but it's slightly larger and it uses MIPI instead of LVDS - quite a bummer. Not sure if it's even possible, honestly. I'm on it, bu...

Which BIOS are you on? The newest version (180115) uses much more power than the previous ones, at least on windows. The coolest version is 170904 when activating ASPM for every PCIe device (this enables windows to use package C-state 8), but this version crashes when you wake up the machine from st...

The standby issue with the 170904 bios is, that when you wake up the system by opening the lid, the system will crash. Do you need lid-induced standby? If not, simply remove the magnet from your display cable and you'll be fine. Wake-up via power button works flawlessly. If you insist on lid-induce...

Well I need to make some furhter test really. I have succesfully reduced voltage on CPU by 0,15V (a big surprise), and on GPU core by 0,115V (even bigger surprise). Temperature drops are HUGE.
