I have a T430U and can confirm that 16GB works. I installed this kit:

Re: Thinkpad Advanced Dock and not only questions!

And a final question. Has anyone used the T60 with the X1400 for Blu-Ray playback?

I am thinking of getting the Buffalo BR-H1016SU2 http://www.itechnews.net/2009/08/20/buf ... y-burners/ once it gets released... 8)

Re: Thinkpad Advanced Dock and not only questions!

In that case am I better off putting the DVDRW on the dock's ultrabay and the SATA hard drive to the thinkpad's ultra bay slim ?

Is the laptop's ultrabay slim connected direct to the chipset with no speed restrictions? Am I likely to get full speed of the hard drive?

Re: Thinkpad Advanced Dock and not only questions!

cool, thank you. Yeah, the Sata-1 speeds aren't ideal but there's no other way. Now I am looking at the OCZ Solid 2 Series as well since it's based on Indilinx chipset and will probably have trim support as well. If I go the SSD way then I will use the ultrabay in the advanced dock with a big hard d...

Thinkpad Advanced Dock and not only questions!

Hi I managed to get hold of a new T60 2007-FVG with 15" 1400x1050 IPS Flexview for my Thinkpad collection. I've upgraded the RAM to 4GB to take advantage of the dual channel interface since I will only have 3GB available. Also I am getting a Crucial M225 64GB for it just to speed things up a bit! Af...

Re: What distro do YOU use?

I am using Fedora11 on my X301 and it runs very fast. All devices are recognized, standby/hibernation works quite well with a 2GB swap partition.
Was really keen on using KDE 4.2 as it looks awesome but wasn't stable enough for me and so I switched to Gnome where most Fn keys work as well.

Re: X300 speakers 'plop'

To be honest X301 is an amazing piece of engineering but those problems you mentioned and the lack of a docking port and express card slot don't put it on my top list of laptops... Though I haven't had any problems with my speakers under Vista, XP or Fedora 11. Are you using the latest Bios? Maybe t...

I had the same problem a while ago and it was very annoying. I managed to get around it by removing the associated device, it's drivers and reinstalling the drivers manually.

After that it never bothered me again.

Re: T43 screen gone almost dark...please help

I find the idea of replacing a backlight with a used one not the best one around... Backlights are less than $20 shipped...and that gets you an almost new LCD altogether...full brightness and everything... My $0.02 only... Well yeah, fair point. I guess I'll try the old one now, as it's already Thu...

Thanks for the lubrication suggestions. The T42 is still under warranty and the German IBM service center wouldn't react well to signs of my going in. After the warranty expires, I re-enter the DIY world. (Graphited lubricant on a high speed bearing?) In BIOS I reduced the processor speed to minimu...

Re: T43 screen gone almost dark...please help

Inverter is the cheapest possible fix, so try replacing it. If that doesn't fix the issue, your LCD has a bad backlight or there's a motherboard problem. Let's hope it's option # 1...and that all will be well with a new inverter... I've managed to find the cracked LCD. I was planning on replacing t...

Was this the first time that you lost the backlighting? Yes that was the first time. Does the backlighting come back on if you power the T43 off for a while first? Last night it did come back for a few minutes but it was very dimmed. Now its always same, just very dark, can barely see the desktop. ...

Oh I wasnt aware about the new keyboard return policy, seems that Lenovo is changing the rules! At least you still get it free of charge as long as you send the other back... If you are under warranty, Lenovo will be more than happy to send you a replacement keyboard. You just say that buttons became sticky or something like that and they will send you a brand new without asking for the old one back. When my T43 was under warranty I used to request a new keyboard every c...
