I must have gotten a dud bc the 600 I purchased had really weak screen hinges.

Great collection! I had a few Dell's from the early 2000's but many suffered from brittle plastic. Yours look fantastic!

Must admit I haven't turned off a flakey a22 for a week now for fear of it not booting...

Re: Any working 15" A30's left?
Probably sounds dumb but I am looking for the fastest 15" XGA Thinkpad that originally shipped with win98 and included wifi! lol
Basically an A30 2652-4cu...
As for longevity, I have 760e, 765 and 770 that run like tops. Win95 is as responsive as win10 lol.

Have a A20m that was finicky on power on for the longest time after purchase but powers up fine. Maybe the A line just doesn't have longevity in its bones

Odd ball question - can you scroll with your finger on the tablet models or is the pen required for all inputs?

Re: CD ripping on 760EL
Got a 765L and the 760EL. Win98SE and Winamp 5.33 on both... Can rip on the 765 and not on the 760... Maybe it is the 4x cdrom in the 760.
Just messing around. Sooo slow to rip. Napster was the easier way to go for sure.

I am restoring a new IBM 765L. I think the 760XL win95 backup in English will work for my model.
Thank you!!

Good luck smf - dealt with power issues on a 765 where it had no power lights and wouldn't turn on when plugged in. After a battery swap it is finally powering on reliably. GL. And post pictures once you get it going.

CD ripping on 760EL
Good evening thinkpad elders, I have an IBM 760EL with 48mb ram running Win98 SE and I am attempting to rip an audio CD. CD is good but trying to rip the CD using Winamp 5.33 results in an appropriately sized mp3 that is dead air. Using Windows Media Player to rip the CD I get an error saying digita...

I tend to think there really aren't a lot of these machines out there and the one's that are - are being used to their fullest due to their high cost! Maybe I can pick up a retiree one day

Re: TRUE old tech users, using today
When I used to go into work, would use an IBm 760EL to admin some servers via putty, chat on IRC and poke around to find usable websites.... During lockdown the a21m is getting a workout during the day doing email and web browsing and Z61P at night running Ubuntu 19.10 or winxp for gaming... Want to...

I sent a PM as well. Have looked for a working transnote to test drive for a while. Also in need of a new 760 power brick =) If you have a 765L or D well I will be a customer for those as well. Fun to run putty on the old girls and get some work done.

I will have to grab an ultrabay battery and see how it boosts the run time.
A brighter display would be awesome but I am seeing $300 on ebay!
Love the look and it is solid! Built like a tank.

The Dreadnaught - Z61P
Hello all, Got the itch to try another new old IBM Thinkpad after finally getting my A20m stable and running smooth. I found a fully loaded Z61P on the ol fleabay and paid about $100 for it. Definitely the most I have spent on an oldie but the laptop looks basically unused. Call it the Dreadnaught b...

Re: My A 20/21/22 won't power on reliably/reboots intermittently
I have a A20M that just would not boot for anything a couple weeks ago. I disassembled everything, tried powering it on just the battery and just the AC cord to no avail. So I put it away for a few weeks and pulled it out this morning. It booted first time from the battery and now I am scared to tur...
