Re: WTS: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and A31p parts)
Such a beautiful and fascinating machine. I have quite some projects to finish and a limited budget right now, otherwise I would be interested. It'd be fantastic to find that kind of numpad on newer ThinkPads (sub 14" ones with no numpad), hotswapping an optical drive/HDD/numpad must be awesome. Co...

Re: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and some history)
Guys for the benefit of an uninitated, am I reading it correctly once there co-existed A, T and R lines? Of which A was the first to go extinct? You would be correct, the R line continued into the xx00 series (R500, R400), while the last of the A series was the A31p (later "revived" with the A475, ...

Re: WTS: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and A31p parts)
That was a top-end model at the time... Did A31p never come with 2.2Ghz CPU models out of the box? That's kinda disappointing as 2 out of my 3 Latitude C840 came with 2.2Ghz Pentium 4-M! Replaced one with a rare 2.5Ghz CPU, and well I don't think that extra heat output is really worth it. It runs q...

WTS: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and A31p parts)
Due to needing a new laptop I decided to sell off some of my thinkpad collection. Up for sale is an A31p with the fabled and rare numpad unit in great shape (both the caddy and numpad are both present). (WARNING LARGE IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/9CXOp2h ). Pictures of the numpad can be found in the ...

Re: A31p numpad unit *PICS*
Well after a few weeks I can finally update the thread with a pic of the numpad in a working A31p (lucky classfield find!). Windows XP had no issues recognizing it and it works as one would expect. Does anyone know how to toggle numlock on the A31p though  Some pics too (warning, they're pretty...

A31p numpad unit *PICS*
Posting some pictures of my A31p that came with a numpad. Sadly the motherboard in the A31p flexed so the machine is no longer functional. However its in fantastic physical condition. Enjoy! https://lewd.pics/p/Wltx.jpeg https://lewd.pics/p/PX09.jpeg https://lewd.pics/p/GLFA.jpeg https://lewd.pics/p...

Re: A31p motherboard reflow
I've reflowed a t42 motherboard for the same gpu problem (in fact, similar chip to the A31) with toaster oven and a A30 motherboard also with the same problem with heat gun. I would go for toaster oven because its so much easier to control the temps. The heat gun doesn't require you to strip everyt...

A31p motherboard reflow
Just interested if anyone with a dead A31p motherboard tried to reflow it (since it seems that more often than not the GPU is at fault).
Im unfortunately the owner of 3 A31p's, all with the same motherboard issue.

WTS/WTT: IBM type 2611-41B (i series 1400)
Interested in trading/selling my IBM type 2611 :) Its a bit beat up (the lid on the left hinge is broken, but the previous owner repaired it), and it has a bit of smaller scuffs. The keyboard is like new in ANSI layout. The screen is still bright for its age (800x600 though). The battery is toast an...

Re: WTB: X60/61 screen (XGA, AAFS or normal TN)
The IPS screens were only used in tablets and as such are not drop in replacements -- (1) the pinouts are different, thus requiring either an adapter cable or modifying the LVDS cable, (2) the attachment points are different, thus requiring the removal of eyelets using a rotary tool, (3) have a gla...
