Check the USB ports for broken or damaged pins. Could be a short in there somewhere.

Re: T60p UXGA screen as 2nd/external monitor

It's possible, but not a simple connection. You will need a LCD driver of some sort. Maybe something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234233333030?h ... SwJSJfQH~T
If you decide to go that route, make sure to select a board that is compatible with your particular LCD panel.

Hey there NyLan , welcome! Years ago, when I played around with Pentium II and III ThinkPads, I never used Win98 recovery media. Only installed from an OEM Win98SE CD, but whew!, there were a lot of drivers to search out and install. Anyway, I would think the A21M recovery disks will install just fi...

Maybe... I'll dig out the parts box in the next few days and have a look.
"LCD Cover"? The outside lid, or the bezel that surrounds the LCD panel? Or both?

Give it several days, a week even, to fully dry out, then try again. It takes much longer than you think for the tiny amount of moisture to dry up, that can cause a short circuit. If it still doesn't work then, I would try a replacement keyboard first, then the system board.

Yes, VirtualBox is a good option. Better, in my opinion that WINE. At least for the Windows software I need want to use. But it may not be the best solution for gaming, depending on the type of games one plays. Graphics acceleration doesn't work very well in VirtualBox.

Re: Upgrade from Windows 7 to Linux Mint or Zorin

I've been using Linux on most of my ThinkPads for years now. I don't want my Linux to look or feel like Windows, but I can understand why some do want that. Just discovered yesterday what may be a good choice for folks that want their Linux OS to look like Windows, and provide easy access to Microso...

Re: Can you combine Lenovo Recovery disks/files into one image?

I've been using Ventoy to boot multiple ISO from single USB flash drive. Have not tried using a ThinkPad recovery set with it, but now I'm wondering if it would work. If so, it's would be very easy to set up.

Re: Cannot install Win7 on W520 with new mobo and SSD

I have had similar issues present because of a faulty battery in a couple of different ThinkPads (and one Dell laptop). I don't understand how a battery can cause such issues, but have seen it with my own eyes. Just this year I began having trouble with my T430, while running on AC power with batter...

To be honest for many years I had a running Ubuntu in the house so I've forgotten how to do that under Windows.
Presumably you need some software?..
Rufus is pretty good for that... Ventoy is even easier, and handy if you want more than one ISO on the same USB stick.

I'm sure some have seen Formula E racing. It's quite entertaining, just not as loud a motorsports. Anyway, as new car manufacturing transitions to electric motors, there will be more and more electric motorsports.

You could probably use the SATA Ultrabay HD caddy in the R40, but there would be extra cost for the adapter and performance would be no better, and perhaps even worse, than using a Samsung HM160HC in the main drive bay. On second thought, that may not be a good idea because the R40 has an Ultrabay P...

PATA IDE connection is what you need, and it does look like there were some older Scorpio series of that nature. So, if that is what the drive has, then sure it would work.

I don't think it makes any difference what kind of adapter one uses, none can alter the download limits provided by the ISP. Now if you are interested in file transfer speed within a LAN, then better adapters might make a difference.
