Re: need original recovery CD set ISO specifically for IBM ThinkPad A20m in English

I remember, that I had a similar issue with T21 Windows 98 recovery. It simply didn't want to cooperate. After a lot of debugging, it turned out, that recovery expected disk to be formated in a "proper" way. Basically, I've used 600X WinNT recovery and let it format the disk. Afterwards, I've stoppe...

I just wonder what keyword you've used, as "A20m" displays two recoveries and Software Selections disc.

Re: Problems with ThinkPad restoration

Some updates to my questions: I've managed to get original CONFIG.SYS, PROTOCOL.INI, SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI files. NET.CFG wasn't needed in the end. As for AUTOEXEC.BAT, I have found a sample file from 370C (device very similar to 345C), which I have used to properly recreate 345C file. After weeks ...

Problems with ThinkPad restoration

Some time ago I've acquired IBM ThinkPad 345C in a great physical condition. I would like to restore it to a factory condition, but I would really use some help regarding three issues: Device have original IBM PC DOS 7.0 + Windows 3.11 preload in some sort of working state. Previous owner modified A...

Re: 385ED Compatable Hard drive

For older ThinkPads, I would recommend to buy a PATA to CompactFlash adapter and 2GB or 4GB card. Adapters can be bought really cheap, but the real issue is to find a card with works in True ATA mode (other name - Fixed mode), as most of them were designed to work as removable devices. Personally, I...

Did you even look at that link? I was referring to the free driver download from there... Yeah, I've checked it. Otherwise I wouldn't bother you. This is what I've got: https://i.imgur.com/8givvW5l.png This application won't work without a dedicated hardware. If you want to access linear flash (LF)...

Re: booting options on 380xd

Please check this photo . I have put three old PATA HDDs and CF-to-PATA adapter. Last four PINs on the right side aren't needed. You just have to connect adapter correctly - not upside down or aligned to wrong side. There's a video on LGR showing 380XD restoration and disk installation. It seems, th...

Please check the pins - one of them will be missing. I don't have this device, so I can't tell, if this must be aligin to the left or right (in some models, disks were installed upside down).

Re: booting options on 380xd

In case of CF to PATA adapters, you can use 44pin adapter. You only need to properly connect it in the slot (look for a place with a missing pin). Regarding CF card, make sure that it is visible as a fixed disk. Otherwise, you won't be able to use it.

Re: ThinkPad wallpapers and customization files collection

Was able to secure one item from my wanted list. It was a *LOGO.RLE file, which was exclusively added to European devices from Windows 3.11 era. It took me a few hours to figure out the location of file, as it was actually embedded inside other file - WINTP.COM (normally, it should be in WIN.COM). H...

[Windows 3.11/95/98SE] How to access data from PC Card (PCMCIA) Flash Memory Card?

I have two Intel Flash Series 2 Memory Cards and can't get them to work. Win3.11/95/98SE detects them and installs drivers properly, but doesn't display them as a storage. It's possible to display them in My Computer as another partition? If not, then how to access them?

ThinkPad wallpapers and customization files collection

For past few years, I've been collecting wallpapers and customization files, which IBM/Lenovo has bundled in factory images. Some time ago, I've prepared a simple website with (almost) all files, which I was able to collect so far. As my collection is still far from being complete, I wanted to ask f...

Go to LenovoRecovery website and provide your device's Serial Number. You should be able to download a single copy of recovery for free. So, It seems that 2 TB + 128 Gb is the maximum capacity. Can anyone think about a way to get a larger capacity.? You can buy a Toshiba RC100, which is a M.2 2242 PCIe SSD. It have up to 480GB capacity, so in total you'll have M.2 2280 PCIe 2TB + M.2 2242 PCIe 480GB. I'm afraid there's no way to get...

Wow you have certainly spent some time on your 390X which was one of my favorite Tpads. I think I still have got a 850mhz cpu that I used to use in mine somewhere. Adapter and cable were added only, if your laptop had a 16GB SSD cache disk for HDD. However, you can buy and install them if you want:
  • FRU: 04X3827, Rogue-2 FRU 3rd NGFF SSD adapter.

What are the SSD connection options on the T440 (NOT "s" or "p")? I cracked open the case and it looks like an mSATA slot next to the network card. I checked another forum and they claim its not an mSATA socket but a M.2 socket. I only saw two connectors not three. Which is correct? I'd prefer to u...
