Re: Toshiba sells its laptop business to Sharp

RIP Fujitsu, Toshiba, Sony VAIO PCs... And Lenovo still dominates... Kaching, I will write about why Lenovo can succeed when it's NOT a Legend and not New. I wonder which is toughest... I actually think this is just part of a Japanese trend of declining sales and innovation - Not only Fujitsu, Tosh...

Re: In defense of the Thinkpad 25

To be fair, Lenovo/ThinkPad did make a serious effort for Thinkpad 25. I am glad some people think so At least the traditional 7-row keyboard had key backlight, so they did some redesigning... They also made it a touch screen which just screams "Retro" . We are truly blessed by Lenovo. There'...

Re: In defense of the Thinkpad 25

Thanks for listening to my rant I know some parts were really repetitive but I just wanted to respond to all the naysayers out there because i felt the hate against this laptop was undeserved. Impossible to satisfy everyone. Thanks for your response.

In defense of the Thinkpad 25

The Thinkpad 25 seems to get a lot of hate online, some of it is deserved some of it is not. I made my points defending it here however, let me know if you agree/disagree with my stance here.. im not saying its a perfect laptop, its definitely not retro, but I also don't think its overpriced 'crap' ...

Re: Thinkpad 25 First Impressions (PICS)

Thanks for the great review. Yeah I agree a lot of negative comments about this laptop are about the price, or not being retro enough but if we look at it as a modern day laptop instead of a 'retro' one, I think we can appreciate it a bit better. It is strictly superior to the T470 and almost any ot...

Re: T25 keyboard bezel to make T470 a 7-row?

Is it worth it to go to such lengths just for the quad core CPU on the T470p? cause thats literally the only advantage the T470p has over the TP25. I don't get the incessant need for a quad core cpu on the tp25 its not designed to be a heavy workstation. I think it would be a better idea to get a P ...

Re: Thinkpad 25 vs T410, T430s, Yoga 14 (PICS)

I like the keyboard of the Thinkpad 25, and yes, I find it close enough to the old classic keyboards. You can read more in my 'First Impressions' review (link at the top of the first post) as well as Bibin's review (link in my 'First Impressions' review). I don't like the island keyboards, not beca...

Overpriced laptop with outdated CPU generation, not a big deal anyway.
Not overpriced at all if you compare it to the MacBook Pro and the MS SurfaceBooks out there

Re: Time to crowdfund the real ThinkPad: let's see how badly we want it

I think I would just go for the X61 with a Full HD IPS panel, modern ports (VGA can be kept but remove modem, PC card and firewire for HDMI and Thunderbolt 3), and upgraded internals (8th gen CPU, 16GB RAM, SSD).

Yeah, I'll agree with your assessments. I don't notice the poor LCD quite as much but then again, I'll be frank and confess LCD quality hasn't ever jumped out at me except in the absolute best and worst of times. I too noticed the reduced key travel and esp. the trackpoint buttons. I've adapted qui...

Re: My ThinkPad T25 review

My problem with 16:9 is the loss of pixels. This is long no longer a problem with FHD being the default resolution on every modern Thinkpad of every product line, and QHD is also popular. I'd ditch my T500 for 2560x1440 in my T520. Actually 3:2 gives you more vertical real estate than 16:10. Its no...

Re: Thoughts on the x240?

Haswell is the first mobile CPU to significantly increase the battery life. Ivy Bridge and previous CPUs - you were lucky if you got 6 hours of battery life on a laptop. Post- Haswell the battery life runs north of double digits now. We all have Haswell to thank for that. If you're referring to the...

Re: I need to vent about the 940MX

I SWEAR a few weeks ago (when T25 got announced) that in our region, the T470 had the 940MX GPU option, 16 GB RAM, i7 dual core CPU, SSD options. I did seriously compare T470 vs T25 back then. (Sorry, did not make any screen shots, and no print outs). Just visited ThinkPad regional site today, and ...

Re: My ThinkPad T25 review

Yeah your best bet for 16:10 at this point is a Macbook. I think the 2012-2015 models are actually quite good with a decent port selection and keyboard. The 2016+ Macbook Pros are obviously completely opposite the thinkpads ([censored] keyboard, no ports, no connectivity, cant upgrade anything etc)

Re: My ThinkPad T25 review

Not to preach, but to actually educate. Google topics like 4:3 vs 16:9 vs 16:10 and you find almost nothing. People need to start teaching their coworkers, friends etc., "hey look at your stupid useless widescreen - they're only useful for gaming". Whip out your T60 (or 3:2 surface for that matter)...

Re: New Thinkpad T25 - Anniversary

The SurfaceBook 2 keyboard is NOT a thinkpad keyboard.. Hence the enticing idea of replacing it with a Thinkpad keyboard. and the ports are lackluster and no removable battery. So no it can't replace a Thinkpad. But there hasen't been a real Thinkpad in a long time, so this would in effect be bette...

Re: So Who Actually Ordered?

I also got mine and have a review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRV4de6CIi0 and I opened up the back for you guys to take a look. There is no WWAN on the US models. There is an empty DIMM slot and a 16GB module in the other one so can be upgraded to 32GB RAM. The SSD is an M.2 even though it...
