[Updated] FS: IBM ThinkPad s30 Piano-Black (10th Anniversary Edition)

Update morning 21 Feb: price So after a couple of years with a lot of my old Thinkpads, I need to downsize my collection in preparation for a likely move sooner or later. As one of the photos in the imgur album show, I put a few accessories with the computer. As stated verbatim in this forum, the ma...

Re: LF: UXGA mod for t60 14.1

Yeah, they sent that to me too. They've got good feedback and I know the Chinese new year is right about now, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, for the 2-3 weeks they're asking for anyway. Well within the "file a claim" window if it does turn out to be a hoax. My preferred guys...

Re: What is this little extra fan for on my X61 ?

Hi. I have to X61 laptops and one of them has a small fan (in addition to the CPU fan assembly) just to the left of the modem. The X61 with the extra fan is a T7300. The one without the extra fan is a T8100. While the palm rest heat thing is very famous, I wonder if that is the only reason. I also ...

Hello, can please someone tell me what this is? I bougt a 765D and it arrived in this coffer. I was not able to find any information about it; it is probably from the mid or late nineties. Is this a laptop case or enhancement? When I plug the power cord in, a red light on tehe bottom left side ligh...

Re: 8GB to 16GB upgrade, noticeable speed boost?

Someone on eBay listed a screen cracked T420 with 16GB of RAM for $70 so of course I bought it. Throwing in my T430's old HD+ and flipping it should net me a few coffees. What I'm wondering is if beyond the increased capacity for multitasking, heavy editing, poor browsing habits, and virtual machin...

Re: Display Lid Warped / Bent? Here Comes the Ultimate 5 Minute Fix!

Hey guys, I was suffering from a bent / warped display lid. I seeked relief on the internet, but all I could find were suggestions to RMA the device, or just "let go". I wouldn't want to "let go" - and this bent display was annoying me so much, that I started experimenting a bit until I have come u...

Its wired up so random lights go on and off with the rotary knobs and some buttons control an FM radio inside. G40 should be a full power P4. Not sure about the temperatures over there but here in NY, you could donate as a free warmer for those freezing students! I ran a few different OSs on an L7500 C2D and with an HDD it was painfully slow. With an SSD that might change. I ran W7 on a T40 once w/ SSD and ...

Anyone? I was a little upset about the fact that it couldn't accept a Core 2 Duo, and I thought someone else would have a better use for this machine. My original intention was to turn the G50 into a Socket M test bench for overclocking, since its heatsink looks like as if it could handle the heat....

Re: Did I just buy a FAKE Intel X9000 cpu ?!

One thing though, that re-labeled Core 2 Duo E8135 is not a real Core 2 Duo E8135. It is actually a rare PGA478 engineering sample of the Core 2 Duo SP9400 as CPU-Z has correctly detected it. A real Core 2 Duo E8135 would be clocked at 2.66GHz , not 2.4GHz, which was what the re-labeled E8135's BIO...

Exactly what are you doing that is causing the errors? Are you aware this deals with X220 and T420, not the X250? I ask as every step written above works without any form of issue on the X220 and T420. I would not have written it the way I did otherwise. Also, it has been proven out on over 18 inst...

Re: Thinkpad n00b's cross generation comparison in a real store

Yes, it is. It's even worse because I think that if you use Fn-lock to use Function keys as Function keys, it turns the primary function to Insert, so now End becomes Fn+Insert, which is horrible. The design was forced by the slimness of the X240 (and above) X250 user here. The keyboard is acceptab...
