Re: [X260] How to utilize a preinstalled OS license?

I should mention that I was able to use the preinstalled OS licence on my X250 by installing Windows USING EFI boot. I can help you if you don't know how to do that. When you launch the installer, it should not prompt for a product key and edition, but if it does, just leave the key blank and select...

And AFAIK you could also run those on the Z60 (which is basically a T43 with SATA ex-factory) with some extra drivers.
Ah! I see!

Re: Recovery Set Repository for Community Members

I just found this thread from someone on Reddit, and would like to share the recovery media for my R52 (Intel GMA; no ATI), yes, it's a US English image with Windows XP Professional (as far as I know), and are "Create recovery media" discs. One CD for the recovery media, and one DVD for the factory ...

Re: FS: Thinkpad Recovery ISO images: TP 600E to T430. Not all models available.

Would you happen to be interested in taking in (from me) a recovery ISO for a R52, Windows XP Pro (US English), from a unit manufactured in October 2005 (so it has a few mentions of Lenovo)?

Has anyone here had any success repairing the ribbon cable on a keyboard for a TP 760 series?

As you may be able to tell from my forum signature as of posting this, I have 2 760EDs, of which there's an Asian unit that spent most of its life in a humid storeroom, causing the LCD to warp from moisture damage, and besides that, the resume battery did leak, corroding the right half of the keyboa...

Re: IBM Thinkpad Battery Re-Celling Battery Rebuild Tutorial

What about the control board in the battery, will it learn and adjust to the new capacity automatically after re-celling? I am pretty sure I read it somewhere that after someone re-celled an old battery, the new laptop battery worked, but it wasn't quite "right", probably it would have needed a re-...

Re: is there anyone who has installed a Linux into x41?

While I don't own a X41 (I found this thread through the "related posts" thing at the bottom of the page) , what i do know is that I have a R51 running Debian 8 (but Debian 9 may work on it), albeit with non-functioning sleep/hibernate features. What I also do know is that while I never had any real...

Re: What do you do with Linux?

GNU/Linux (or "Linux as a desktop and server OS" if you want to call it that), in my opinion, provides what is essentially a level above Android-level customisability, on a desktop-class OS, and Android's level of customisability is already higher than Windows Phone and iOS. Most people usually use ...

Re: What exactly was the R series trying fit?

R-series was built of different plastics to make it cheaper. I recall R60 series was all ABS, like the Z-series, unlike the T-series that's built of metal alloys. Also in the R50-T40 gen, T-series had some magnesium frame pieces in its base while R-series used plastic parts instead, for example in ...

Re: What operatings systems are y'all using on your vintage ThinkPads?

Well, I have a 760EL running Windows ME (because a friend dared me to bypass its processor check (minimum 150MHz, but mine has a 100MHz chip) and install it on there).

Re: Spent TWO YEARS putting this vintage thinkpad BEAST together. Hope you guys like it!

How do you find a 13GB Solid State Drive for this kind of machine? Where can I buy these things for the 760EL I have :D Well, it could be an early IDE interface SSD, like the rare Samsung "FlashSSD" 16GB I have (I only have 1, and no, I'm not selling it). However, at least the 760EL I have, which h...

Re: Thinkpad 760L

Standby battery, it was leaking so I have removed it, was shocked to see how it had attacked the board, Yeah, and from what I know, when the corrosion gets too far, the system constantly thinks the second lid is open, and goes to sleep mode while starting an OS. Trust me, it has happened with my As...

Re: Poor Man's Retro Thinkpad

It's a thing in every sane country. The US is the only one (or one of the only ones) that's crazy enough not to do it. This is what causes stupid crap like the penny still being in existence, and a few other effects that are not obvious until you spend a couple of weeks in that looney bin. :mrgreen...

Re: Poor Man's Retro Thinkpad

It's currently available on the Singapore site. The Singaporeans get the best deal, because the price shown there includes tax, onsite warranty and the WWAN (which is not included in the US model). The US dollar crashed in the past couple of months; before that the Singaporean price when converted ...

I happened to have came across this post by accident, but this is amazing! I remember not being able to find the T25 on Lenovo's Singapore online store when it first came out (before someone on Instagram informed me that they ended up getting it in some time after it was available in the US), and ha...

Wow, beautiful! Actually, this gives me an idea for a forum game*, where we basically do paradoxes (but not using screenshots), but then again, that probably sounds too generic of an idea. *I'm pretty sure forum games aren't a thing here, but they're at least a thing over on one other forum I'm on

Re: SD Card to IDE Adapter in 380XD

Well, even though your issue may be resolved, what I do know is that higher-capacity hard drives can cause the BIOS on a 760 series to lock up, but a 2GB SD card works fine (as it's close to the official 2.1GB option, but theoretically, 4GB cards should work, and I do have Windows ME installed on th...

Windows ME on a 2GB SD card ➜ SD to IDE adapter ➜ installed inside hard drive cartridge shell + cardboard 2 different hardware profiles, one for a 760EL (primary profile) and one for a 760ED (secondary profile). No sound for the latter as Mwave DSP drivers cause Windows ME to crash, but I plan to in...

Re: Your favorite free O/S

I have multiple favourites, all of which are Linux distros (those being Debian, Devuan, and KDE Neon), but if I had to pick one, it'd be Devuan , although, If I had to recommend a Linux distro to someone who's new to the world of GNU/Linux , I'd recommend one of the many official "flavours" of Ubunt...
