Re: Thermal pad on the gpu and overheating

Kryonaut takes about 24-48 hours to reach close to its maximum thermal performance. I actually applied it last weekend, so it's been almost a week and the temps are still kinda bad. I bought it from my country's ebay, so it could even be a counterfeit or something. I have a Linux CPU undervolting g...

Thermal pad on the gpu and overheating

Hello. I was wondering if the thermal pad on the gpu is completely necessary, or if I can just replace it with thermal paste. The temps on my x61 are higher than I would like (T7300, idles at 65°c, goes up to 80°c when using my web browser) so I went and replaced the paste on the cpu but I left the ...

Re: x61 fan level/speed

I thought changing the speed wasn't that difficult because even the thinkfan article in thinkwiki has the speed at which the x61 fan should run depending on the level. That's also the reason why I thought my fan might be malfunctioning, as my speeds are not even similar to those. I did clean and lub...

x61 fan level/speed

Hello. I have an x61 that runs a little hot and the fan is quite noicy so I tried setting up thinkfan to control it, but after not noticing any real changes in neither temp nor noise, I tested the fan and got this results: level 1 3226 rpm level 2 3226 rpm level 3 3856 rpm level 4 3458 rpm level 5 3...

x61 headphones don't mute speakers

I've been having a weird problem with my x61. When I plug in headphones on the audio jack, I get sound from both the headphones and the speakers, when usually the speakers would mute if headphones are connected. Google says it's usually software related, but in my case, if I press on the palmrest ne...

Re: Transplant x61 second fan

I don't want to risk blowing my pc, so I'll just change the wifi card and call it a day then. Thanks for answering guys.

Re: Transplant x61 second fan

And what would happen if I connect the second fan in parallel to the main fan? they both need the same voltage and current.

Re: Transplant x61 second fan

Thanks, I'll do that then. It's way easier and less risky than trying to solder something to the main board by myself.

Transplant x61 second fan

Hello. I have an x61 that doesn't have the palmrest fan, but I found a dead x61 that does. If I just solder the connector to the fanless x61 and plug the in the fan, would it work or does the board need other components? The palmrest gets quite hot and I'm trying to see if that fan helps cool it off...
