Re: [Idea] Intel NUC boards in Thinkpads?
Unfortunately still no idea how to make trackpad work. Looking at the connector there appear to be 3 + 4 + 4 traces from trackpad alone.. Easier to replace whole trackpad as a whole?.. How easy?.. on R60/T60.. There are T61 schematics online, you can find the pinout there. The touchpad connector ha...

Re: LF: xiphmont's LED driver board (TLD)
In the TLD3 board design, the feedback resistor is chosen as 0.332 ohms, with 0.2V of the reference voltage, this should translate to a 0.2/0.332=0.6A or 600mA, this is also confirmed by his own description on the website. He also mentions the LED backlight draws 4.8W at 600mA current, this means th...

Re: [Idea] Intel NUC boards in Thinkpads?
Heatsink might be the one biggest challenge. I am not aware of any cheap heatsink customization/prototype/manufacturing sort of service online. For the circuits, things should be fairly straightforward, we need a battery charger chip, a DC-DC converter chip, and a microcontroller for power managemen...

Re: Project Report: X61/X61s CPU Upgrade
He he so you did use a pre-heater after all :) How did you go about interposter board though? Did you first BGA it on both sides and then put on the motherboard? It would seem that while doing so you'd melt solder balls on top side first? So they were liquid while you were setting the interposter b...

Re: Project Report: X61/X61s CPU Upgrade
Breathtaking experience, thanks so much for sharing. Really impressive. So you actually managed both CPU removal and two BGA installations with a hot air gun only? I am also surprised it worked. I am using a hot air gun and a small board preheater (only covers half of the motherboard). None of them...

Project Report: X61/X61s CPU Upgrade
0. Introduction ThinkPad X61 is a classical machine, along with T61 they are the last 4:3 ThinkPads made by Lenovo. I bought my X61s used in 2010 (I simply couldn't afford it back in 2007 when it first came out) and keeps using it as my main laptop (I have a much more powerful desktop PC for most o...

I remember it is in one of the slots in the back, the place where normally RAM would go on other thinkpads.ThinkPad560X wrote: ↑Thu Sep 27, 2018 11:49 pmI don't know I never opened it up. where is the rom module at?

Re: WTB IBM PC110
Somewhat as an aside: what exactly is the failure/effect/environmental cause of the LCD panels getting destroyed seemingly just due to age? I have never seen, with any computer except a PC110, the type of damage that these screens often seem to have. For example, this unit was on Yahoo Auctions , a...

If you want to buy a 600X, I can offer to sell you one. It is a 600X with 500MHz PIII processor and 576MB screen. It is in working condition but rough shape. Asking for US$100 not including shipping from PA.

Just some addition. My 750C would run with 12V power supply, but 755C would not.

Re: Looking for info on the Thinkpad 240Z
You can simply replace it with a 240's or 240X's US English keyboard. That's what I did for my i Series 1124. Well I guess probably WorkPad Z50's keyboard is also compatible? Haven't tried yet, but they looked the same (except different labels on function keys). By the way, I think one "drawback" o...

Recently got a ThinkPad 800
Just bought a ThinkPad 800 (Type 6020) from China. It was in a very rough shape and missing the top module (a camera?), screen seems to be dead and no power supply. Seller said that he could not test it and selling it as is, asking for around $50. I bought it right away. See the original posting if ...

Re: Looking for info on the Thinkpad 240Z
I got a 240Z several years ago. The keyboard was bad but I replaced it with a 240 keyboard and it works fine now. Mine comes with a 600MHz PIII, internal Ethernet, and an XGA screen. It uses the same sound card and graphic card as the 240X and operating system, drivers are basically directly compati...
