Re: Temperature Sensors Accuracy

I'd say fairly accurate, since most of the temperature sensors are usually located on the motherboard, not on the chip itself. Considering that a lot of components have their own integrated temperature sensors nowadays (on-die, on-package, etc), I believe that they should be a lot more accurate than...

Re: X250 BIOS entries "OA3 ID" and "OA2"

I believe that it might be related to SLIC, since OA stands for 'OEM activation'.

OA2.x is meant for activating Windows Vista and 7, if I am not wrong. OA3.x on the other hand, is meant for activating either Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.

I doubt it.

The W540/W541's BIOS change log doesn't even seem to mention any sort of throttling in it, so it is very unlikely that it has been fixed.

The maximum amount of RAM that you can install is 2GB (two 1GB RAM modules), and it doesn't matter if it is DDR266, or DDR333, or DDR400. They will all work, provided that the RAM module is from a well-known brand or from a reliable manufacturer. Some examples include: Crucial, Samsung, SK-Hynix, Mi...

I am not exactly sure on what you did, but were these 4 .iso files combined into one .iso? If that is so, I doubt that would work.

May I suggest a fresh installation with a Windows XP Professional disc, if that is possible?

Re: What is a brand new T61P worth?

Keeping the Quadro FX 570M under 70 degrees celsius should be good enough, since the underfill that it is using is a Namics U8439-1. That particular underfill has a glassification temperature of 70 degrees celsius, which means that it would completely lose most of its structural rigidity at that tem...

1. Is this possible and not overly complicated to do? Yes, although the complexity depends on your experience with disassembling laptops in general. 2. For me I could just aswell move the whole monitor bezel instead of just the panels. Would that be easier/more complicated? That would be much easie...

I don't think that there is any other driver left for you to try, unfortunately.

I do have two questions for you though, is this a vanilla Windows 98 SE installation? Or, is this a Windows 98 SE installation with KernelEx? Also, does it have DirectX 7.0a installed?

I don't think that fault would be related to the GMA X3100, and that sounds more like a problem related to your display panel's CCFL backlight. A magenta-tinted display, generally indicates that the display panel's CCFL backlight is close or is near to failure. I would suggest replacing the entire d...

I believe so, since IBM_ECW's driver is considered as an unsigned or a non-verified driver.

You would have to disable the 'driver signature enforcement' feature for it to work in Windows 10, as far as I know.

Here is the latest Rapid Storage Technology driver Intel has released for XP x86 and x64 (v11.2.0.1006).

Just remember to set your SATA controller's mode to 'Compatibility' in the BIOS first, otherwise Windows XP will not see the HDD/SSD.

Re: Install a 1066MHz FSB CPU on T61 (including Core 2 Quad)

You could try to search for a BIOS that contains a modified APIC for proper support for the Core 2 Quad processors, in the notebookreview forums . No, the APIC is just a part of the ACPI subsystem. I don't think it is a 'driver' for the BIOS. I believe that your current situation is an unstable or a...

Re: What is truly the best cpu you can put in a t42?

That would not be possible if his T42 is using an ICS950810, because that phase-locked loop chip is not supported by SetFSB.

SetFSB is only able to overclock a T42 that has a CY28346ZI-2, not a T42 with an ICS950810.

Re: What is truly the best cpu you can put in a t42?

You technically could, but you would need to solder two pins together on the phase-locked loop to get it to work. Don't forget the requirement of underclocking your RAM modules down to DDR266 speeds (266.66 x 1.33 = DDR355), you'll need that as the phase-locked loop modification overclocks the RAM (...

There is someone in Singapore that is selling a fully functional W700ds for $665, if I can recall. I don't think the seller included the shipping costs though, and that might spike the price to the $800~$900 range.

You could try asking him/her to ship it to you.

It is not worth it, at least in my opinion. A more serious issue would be your T61p's Quadro FX 570M's underfill, which does not handle thermal cycling very well and will eventually fail from broken bumps. The only known solution to this issue, would be to replace the graphics chip with another grap...
