Re: Did Acer manufacture the R31?

It is not exactly on the motherboard, I forgot to mention. Here are some of the parts that I have seen the stickers on: heatsink , palmrest , bottom housing base + cardbus slot I might have over-exaggerated the amount of stickers that were pasted on these parts, but this was what I have noticed. The...

Re: Did Acer manufacture the R31?

Probably not, and I should have said Wistron-built instead of Acer-built. I did not know that Wistron was spun-off that early in 2000, I initially believed that it was somewhere in 2002. I would count the entire R3x as Wistron-built, now that I know that Wistron was formed way earlier than I had exp...

Re: Did Acer manufacture the R31?

R30, R31, R32, R40/e G40/41 and possibly G50. The R30, R31, and the R32 are indeed Acer-built machines, but the R40, R40e, G40, G41, and the G50 are not Acer-built machines. There is some proof that supports the R30, R31, and the R32's Acer-built claim, but not exactly for the R40, R40e, G40, G41, ...

Re: netws64.sys error! help!!

Well, it looks like there isn't much that I can do. There is one thing that I can tell from Intel's and Lenovo's drivers, though. They are not the same, at least that is what I found out when I checked the driver version and date. It also appears to me that Intel has the latest driver available as u...

Re: Win XP 64 in IDE Compatibility Mode

Ah, I forgot to mention that I created that zipped archive using 7zip's LZMA compression format. That might possibly be the reason why you could not extract it using ZIP Extractor. Reverted? Does your T520 have Optimus enabled? I would suggest disabling Optimus, since it is not supported under XP x6...

Re: netws64.sys error! help!!

It should not be, I had never gotten a BSoD with my 6250AGN in my Celsius H710. I believe that I have jumped from a laptop-purposed-as-a-router (an Atheros AR9220 acting as the access point) to a D-Link DIR-868L, and I have not noticed any sort of strange activity while being connected to a 5GHz-onl...

I suppose that the subsystem ID for whatever reason, is different.

Try this edited driver, I have done some modifications to the NVS 4200M's .inf file to allow any subsystem ID to pass through.

Re: Win XP 64 in IDE Compatibility Mode

NVIDIA has a driver for XP x64 that supports the NVS 4200M, but you would need Service Pack 2 to be installed first.

If you were to run the driver setup without Service Pack 2 installed, it will give you an error stating that the 'hardware is not compatible' or similar.

Strange, I did not expect them to be the same.

It looks like that is the case, since the 4965AGN appears to be suffering from the same issue too. I don't have a clue on why is that so, though.

One question though, why a Core 2 Duo E8435? Assuming that the Core 2 Duo E8435 is a C0 stepping variant (SLAQD), I would advise against purchasing that processor. This is because of how it runs slightly hotter than its E0 stepping variant (SLGEA), and may increase your core temperature by a small a...

Well, darn. I suppose that you could try replacing that dead CMOS battery, though I don't see a reason why it would not boot up without a CMOS battery installed. NiCd? Re: Possible CPU Upgrade & SSD replacement of HDD for Thinkpad R61

Yes, and yes. I don't think there was an official Intel documentation that stated 8GB of RAM was supported, at least to my knowledge. Although, I am very sure that your R61 would be able to address 8GB of RAM without an issue. I used to own an R61i that ran with 8GB of RAM, and I am sure that also a...

Forgive me for my ignorance, but is EasyBCD actually required for dual-booting Windows XP x64 and Windows 7 x86/x64?

My W700 dual-boots Windows XP x64 and Windows Vista x64 with no issues, and that is without the help of EasyBCD.

My question is, does this mode affect Win 7 drive access speeds or time? Access speeds or access times? I doubt so, because the interface only affects the maximum transfer rate. Yes, it would be a straight-fit in a T500's case. I doubt that would fit in an R500's case, due to some strange design choices. I noticed some differences in the R500's magnesium frame that would prevent the W500's motherboard from being placed in. Also, the modem port and the firewire port would al...

If your Armada's battery is still left connected to the motherboard, disconnect it. Then hold down the F10 key and the power button (not the slider), see if that makes your Armada boot up.

A 7.4V green CMOS battery? Is that CMOS battery a lithium battery, or a NiCd, or a NiMH? I'm curious.

Are there any direct fit upgrades for the speaker or any improvements to the sound or am I stuck with something custom? I don't see how would a BIOS modification extend the processor's voltage range, at least on laptops that is. By the way, do you have a Merom or a Yonah? If you have a Merom in your T60, take a look at the voltage identification definition range from this datasheet . If you have a Yonah in your T60, ...

I would not bid above $140 USD for a T440s that has a barely usable screen, and a missing hard drive. This is just my opinion, though.

If it is in a good condition, and is also sold along with its charger, I would usually allow myself to bid a little higher (max $190 USD).

The serial number that you are referring to, is that processor's serial number? Or, could it be something else that you are referring to? I was wondering if that setup could use 4 sticks of 8GB RAM modules in a 4-slot W520...
