Re: Had a T42, then a Dell D630, then a Macbook Pro - T410 next?

I am not too fussed about accidental cover damage, I have that cover in another insurance policy. I have the machine now and I am very happy with it. I was even going to post a photo of my setup becaue I thought it looked so smart and then came to the conclusion that is something people do with cars...

Re: Had a T42, then a Dell D630, then a Macbook Pro - T410 next?

So I just ordered the laptop via the Lenovo UK website. It actually worked out cheaper from there with the 10% discount code I used. Plus I was also able to downgrade the battery to a 6-Cell which is something that I wanted. Ended up going for this specification: - Intel Core i7-620M Processor (2.66...

Re: Had a T42, then a Dell D630, then a Macbook Pro - T410 next?

Well, I think I am just going to go for it. Going to get the laptop, a Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitor, a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard and mouse and a docking station of some description. I would like to make sure I get the Optimus Prime, but ordering through the Lenovo UK site is very expensive compare...

Re: Had a T42, then a Dell D630, then a Macbook Pro - T410 next?

I would like a T510, but I think it will be just a touch too big for me. I need it to be able to fit in my hand luggage while travelling easily and I don't think the laptop pouch on my bag will fit a 15" comfortably. But I will check out the dimensions now. The Lenovo website does not seem to make i...

Had a T42, then a Dell D630, then a Macbook Pro - T410 next?

Just sold my MacBook Pro 13" on ebay. I enjoyed the experience of owning a Mac for a while but ultimatley found that I was much less productive when using it. I found the keyboard to be an annoyance and the screen resolution restrictive, although the screen itself was fantastic. So once again I am l...

I will probably upgrade to a T61 a few months after it becomes available, but hopefully this will give my system a bit of a boost in the mean time.

Looking for best performance possible from new drive...

I have a T43 2668-F5G which I have been using for some years and I really like it. About 3 months ago I upgraded(?) to Windows Vista and it has been quite a miserable experience, my laptop just isn't fast enough to make it a satisfying experience. So I have decided to go back to Windows XP next week...

Why? I have always been impressed with seagate drives, I put one in my old T23 and it really have it a new lease of life and boosted performance tremendously.

Will let you guys know in appropriate thread how I get on with it

Actually, it's "specific" to all IBM i915-based laptops, except for the Z series
So we are sure the Z series do not have this problem? I was thinking of getting one anyway, this could swing it in the event of not being able to get 7200 for my T43

UK Suppliers & 7200rpm disk

Hello, Just wondering who the preferred UK supplier of thinkpads is for users of this forum? I am looking to buy a Z Series 2529-EAU to replace my T43 2668-F5G but I cannot find anyone in the UK that sells them. Also I have noticed in the Z series lineup that not a single model has a 7200rpm drive, ...

Roy, First of all, disabling all startup items has not made a difference, so I dont think the problem is down to IBM software loaded on startup. 1) Yes, but I have just disabled it to see if it makes any difference. 2) Is turned off and has been almost since I started using the machine. 3) No backup...

OK, In an effort to pin it down I removed every single startup item which consisted mostly of IBM utilites and tools. I still had a bit of lag during startup but it seems better. I have tried to abstain from moaning too much about my T43, but I have to say I think my old T23 is better. A smoother machine with less problems than this one.

I dont think it has anything to do with the mouse itself.

I wouldnt have thought it was anything to do with anti-virus software. I have never seen that behaviour caused by AV software on what should be such a powerful machine.

Also, I dont have any AV software software at all installed on my thinkpad and I get the problem regulary.
