Re: IBM Thinkpad Battery Re-Celling Battery Rebuild Tutorial

IIRC the Li-ion battery doesn't use 18650 cells, but something a bit smaller, maybe 17500? of which thinkpad battery are you talking about? does anyone have a list of type of cells each thinkpad battery have? like the X230/X220 batteries have different sizes, there is slim 6 cell pack and a thick 6...

Re: a new age for my frankenpad T601 X9000, w7 pro to W10 pro

my main problem right now is the battery gauge, no matter what I do, I cant install it. weird, since 2 other thinkpad machines have it in W10 W10 does not support the chip installed in T60 or T61; I'm not sure about T500/W500/R500 but would expect it not to work as well. Not every thinkpad is the s...

Re: a new age for my frankenpad T601 X9000, w7 pro to W10 pro

Probably a bit late to help but I find that W10 loads its own drivers and that is all that is necessary. I steer clear of ThinkVantage bloatware and use iobit's DriverBooster if I want to check for later drivers. I have loaded the W7 video drivers in the past to try and improve the VGA resolution a...

UPDATE, in order to prep myself to transition my T601 to W10 i used the test bed the T60 low spec to do the same, w10 installed and most things work fine, I also installed thinkvantage but the green battery gauge doest appear, no matter what driver I use, it will not install the green gauge. hello people it is my intention of using this weekend to upgrade my X9000 T601 Frankenpad from W7 to W10 i know i can install W10 on it , since I already upgraded a low spec T60 to W10, but that was not my machine, so I didnt have much time to spend and tweak it , so all I know is that the system wa...

upgrading, sort of, X230 to windows 10 pro

so, i just upgraded my x230 from w7 pro to win 10 pro, yes, they still give the upgrades for free as long as the w7 key is legit, or almost legit. out of the box the sound and luminosity bars work, as well as the thinklight . however i lost the power manager , as expected. i tried to install the van...

So, November 2019, is there a 15” ThinkPad with: *centered keyboard (no numpad) *Standard size RJ45 jack *1080P or 4K screen with ~90% or better SRGB coverage Thanks not sure about the RJ 45, you will need to check yourself on the images, but here are the models that might have all you need P43s or...

P1/X1E battery question

does anyone here know if there are other batteries that are compatible, size wise and form wise, with the P/X1E but with a larger capacity than the standard one which is 80.4 Wh? anything in the 90+ range? also, given that these batteries are internal , so not what we were used to in the classic thi...

Guess you did not read the Lenovo link in the first post...
i did, but I didnt understand one yota, the info on the link says something about allowing newer thinkpads to use the old 7 key row, but the comments here talk about a new bios blocking this action, hence my confusion.

Re: unusual problem after clean install win7 on W530

Meaning drivers I do not mean what you are trying to install. I mean what Windows tries to install. And that pretty much makes sense actually, as everything is applied after reboot. Try to disable Microsoft Update with services.msc command, and see if it works. If possible, try another wireless car...

Re: unusual problem after clean install win7 on W530

Wireless drivers. Sported it many, many times. This is actually a driver-to-system related issue; W10 will have no trouble running at full speed (not to mention that it will generally run better,, faster, more energy-efficient than W7 on this machine). Try to switch to some higher-grade athreos; tr...

Re: unusual problem after clean install win7 on W530

When W7 came out, HTML was the standard to build websites. Around 2014 HTML5 was being pushed to replace HTML. Many websites never changed the 'old' coding, they kept it same-old/same-old. Either way, many add-ons were updated, many not or poorly. That created some problems, that are not always obv...

Re: Current Thinkpad models that support 32 gb ram (even unofficially)

And who needs 32GB of RAM? Those who run virtual machines. 32GB isn't much nowadays. I had 32 Gigs already in 2014 on my W530 and sometime even I was running out of memory when doing a complex fractal in apophysis with high precision settings. Right now 16gigs is the minimum required for new system...

unusual problem after clean install win7 on W530

HELLO so after installing at least 10 times windows 7 on various machines, like 3xT60, 6xT61, X230, I finally got my hands on an mSATA for my old trusted W530,so I Installed W10 on the old SSD to future proof it for 2020 w7 death, and after the mSata came in, I reinstalled w7 on that drive, W7 is so...

Re: T61 with SSD now takes 5mins to boot!

I'll aim at either controller or memory die size. I am running SSDs in my Z60 and Z61 units and the speed vs HDD is tremendous. The memory controller on the z60 wasn't The same as the T60? Plus I have 4 gigs installed so 2 gigs per stick, seen as 3 gigs of course since I run win XP32 bit. All my ot...

I used on my T61s and T60 the following: Samsung pro 840, pro 860, Evo 860 and crucial BX500.
The only issue I had it's with the crucial BX500 but in the way that it didn't improve the speed of the system, albeit I'm pretty sure it's because it's an XP machine, not WIn7

Re: Batteries for the T60 and T61 series, types and availability

Wow, I have never heard about these 12 cell batteries. Probably I couldn't justify the extra bulk, and rather carry a spare battery with me, but still a very interesting option. If they used high quality cells in these packs, they could achieve 120+ Wh batteries. Now THAT would worth the sacrifice ...

The (3x3) 6300N is max 450Mbps, the (2x2) AC-7260 is max 866Mbps and also includes Bluetooth 4.0. The above AC-7260 (when bought as a proper FRU) is officially supported in the W540 (and other xx40) frubom lists.
