WTB: Core 2 Extreme X9000, T/W500 heatsink

*Somebody on Reddit is selling me his CPU and heatsink, but I'm leaving this post up for reference* Hello everyone! I'm looking at installing a Core 2 Extreme into my FrankenPad T601 project, and was hoping to see if anybody in the community has one they can send my way before I order one off eBay. ...

Re: X9000 - is it worth it?

Thanks everyone for the replies - I think I'm going to bite the bullet and invest the extra $ into an X9000. Once I have that and a W500 fan, and a new wireless card, I'll be all set for the ultimate retro ThinkPad! Just letting you know you might take some flack for calling it a "retro" ThinkPad. ...

Re: X9000 - is it worth it?

I believe that you mean T9500, not T9600. The latter requires a pinmod to run in a T61. To me personally, T9300 is the optimal combination of performance/heat/price UNLESS you're intent on overclocking where the fact that X9000 has unlocked multipliers becomes very important, and a big advantage. X9000 - is it worth it?

Hello everyone! So as I continue to gather the parts I need to complete my T601 FrankenPad project, I have to wonder, does the X9000 processor really add any performance benefits over something like a T9600? In any use, general tasks, gaming, video editing (not that I plan on using the T601 for that...

Re: Modified 15" T60 screen cable/inverter for LED screen

I will be really interested in the follow up on this project too. Like how difficult was the mod to perform, things you should be careful with, any suggestions, possible mistakes etc. Hope it will work out, LEDs have a longer lifespan compared to ccfl, and they also don't turn yellow over time. And...

Looking for 15" T60 screw caps

I'm getting ready to put all of the parts needed for my T601 project together, however the 15" T60 body that I have is missing the screw caps that cover the display assembly's screws. I'd like to have them purely for cosmetic reasons, and haven't been able to find any place that sells them online. W...

Modified 15" T60 screen cable/inverter for LED screen

Hello all: I'm building a Frankenpad T601 and have all of the parts in place to do it, minus one thing. I managed to snag a Boe-Hydis HV150UX2-100 (LED AFFS display) that can work in the T60...the problem is you need a modified cable and inverter for it to work. I have the correct cable and inverter...

I appreciate the offer, but since you're located in Poland I think I'll pass. Shipping would most likely cost more than what these are worth. Thank you though! Shipping is $12-15 for <2kg package. For bigger ones, yes, it easily hits $25-30 mark. I will consider the keyboard and fan if I can't find...

I would definitely be interested in putting one of those quad-cores into my W500. With the WUXGA screen and the Advanced Dock it would be a screamer machine! If anybody can confirm if that processor works in the T/W500, definitely post some update here.

Looks very good. I'm typing this on my T9600 T500. Too bad about no FPR. Mine has a 250 GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. Very nice machine. Yours sounds very nice too with that processor. Thankfully you can easily buy a palmrest with the fingerprint reader and swap it out with the original with just 4 screws.
