My specs are here Almost the same as the T500 reviewed by Notebook Review here which scored 4371 Two runs - I get 3904 and 3884. Could be that the FireGL drivers are more conservative and thus slower. Could be an XP/Vista difference. According to Notebookcheck: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparis...

Personally and aesthetically speaking, this machine looks like a major dissapointment, as well as the T61 series did. What's with the screen STILL not being centered? Now there are keyboard issues? And I wish they still offered a 14.1 4:3 aspect ratio screen. Which sadly I don't think will happen a...

Re: great news for old Europeans
Hi all, the first new thinkpads are popping up in different shops here in Germany. It is unbelievable but the prices reflect more or less the converted USD prices. e.g. a T500 top model costs about 1700Euros and I think that costs about 2400 $ in the US. That would be awesome. I just checked my inv...

Combining the spreadsheet with the specs released by Lenovo earlier leads to a conclusion about the T400: Don't get the integrated graphics unless you want a display with only 185 nit and no LED backlight. It's not always a bad thing of lacking the LED backlight or having a slightly low nit value. ...

I think you can only get the IWS if you buy those pre-configured model (i.e. the models you can find from the tabook) instead of the CTO models. Those models that offer IWS are usually more expensive, but still, if you compare the price for the same model in Europe, it still much cheaper if you buy ...

Does the Nvidia defective GPU problem affect T61/T61p?
According to this article on DailyTech.com: http://www.dailytech.com/Dell+HP+Lists+Reveal+Defective+NVIDIA+Mobile+GPUs/article12553.htm Some(if not all) of the Nvidia 8600M/8400M GPU are defective and the defective GPUs can not tolerant the designed maximum temperatures. I am wondering if the T61/T6...

What's so special about tonight? I thought the new T400/T500 will be released on August 5th. Am I missing something? btw: Why not write a code that can automatically check the status of lenovo.com and make the purchase when the new model is out? It would save you a F5 key and dozens cups of coffee. :D

I guess it will take at least 3-6 months before we see the the switchable graphics thing start to work under Linux. Re: Centrino 2, Core 2 Duo Extreme, or stick with my T7600??
Also, how does the CPU improve wireless-N? Doesn't it mostly depend on the quality of the router, and the N card I use?? It doesn't, but "Centrino 2" refers to a new wireless card as well (the 5000). Don't know how beneficial it would be though, and of course the card is only half of the card-route...

Well, I still see Nvidia is providing a better Linux driver than AMD/ATI, and my Quadro FX 570M is working very well under Ubuntu Hardy(suspend, hibernate, compiz, awn). The demo we've seen is a 14.1", 1440x900, LED backlit screen. I assume 1680x1050 is a mistake. Sadly, if it was not a mistake, I could *almost* justify going to widescreen. This is one of those confusing things going on, there was once a trend of higher and higher resolution, now it's reversing and...

Yeah, it seems to be the case that all the laptop manufacturers are leaving the 4:3 business. I see no benefits for average consumers to have a wide screen LCD other than when you're watching DVDs, but how many DVDs are you going to watch on the 14-15" laptop screens when you can simply watch them o...

No 14" W series?
I am kinda disappointed. I own a 14" T61p. Its video card is not as fast as the 15" T61p, but at least faster than the one in T61. I guess going to the wide LCD format is the reason that we no longer see the 14 inch p model has the same powerful video card as the 15" model. Now they even won't make ...

Will T61 be the last model in the Thinkpad T-series?
I am looking at lenovo.com, and it seems they have put out a new "SL-series" (I believe it stands for "small business line") for the new Montevina platform, while in the T-series, it still uses the old Santa Rosa platform. I am wondering if T61(p) is going to be the last model in the T-seris and Len...
