Re: 600E boot problem
From what I dug up when plugging in and out the hard drive too much the solder joints where the prongs are soldered to the mobo get worn down and crack. You could, if you have some soldering skills, check it out and try to re-flow the joints - maybe that really is the issue.

Re: 600E boot problem
It is. My 600E died that way. Haven't searched for a solution, though.

Re: 750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
Two sliders mean it's a DSTN screen. Look for a TFT display with one slider, if possible. My guess is most of them should be interchangeable. Like Bondi said, looking at the HMM, there is at least one LCD with the same part number. But while the connectors on the mobo may be the same, the inner work...

Re: ThinkPad 701CS - How to get files on and off it?
IBM did indeed make different external floppies and their connectors. ThinkWiki has you covered: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Floppy_Connector The way I see it is you should be able to open up your HDD caddy, disconnect the propietary connector adapter and voila, you have a standard 2,5 inch drive....

Re: 600E boot problem
Try another drive. 600's hard drive connector gets worn out over time, resulting in it not detecting any drive. If this is the case, tough luck.

Re: The official 755 Upgrade and general information Topic
Envy you guys out there in the States; old ThinkPads are way more common where you live. If I was to order a replacement keyboard, most sellers in the US don't even ship to Europe

Re: 560e CD-ROM activation
Just in case, if you cannot manage to install your OS using a CardBus CD-ROM just do it the "old-fashioned" way and get the CD out of the equation. I didn't have any means to install W95 on my 560e (no PCMCIA extensions or no external CDs) so I just extracted the HDD, plopped it into my other ThinkP...

Re: Chinese keyboards on Legacy ThinkPads
I'll try to tear into the keyboard a bit more and post the actual keyboard unit FRU when I have some more time. Sorry if I made a bit of a stir - just curious about this thing, that's all.

Re: Chinese keyboards on Legacy ThinkPads
Alright, here are some photos! https://imgur.com/a/oUVslYV For one, the code number is 2635-6AT, whereras in the "Personal Systems Reference 1992-2001" the closest I could find for a 380ED was a 2635-6AU. I'll assume this is just a region difference; can't really point that to anything else. The key...

Chinese keyboards on Legacy ThinkPads
One of my Thinkpads, a 380ED, has a color-coded Chinese/QWERTY keyboard layout. I've been scouring the Internet for more information or images and haven't seen a single picture of any legacy ThinkPad with this exact layout, let alone one with those color-coded characters. If anyone could shine some ...

Re: The official 755 Upgrade and general information Topic
So... you pretty much replaced everything. Good for you nonetheless; enjoy your ThinkPad! Now it's my turn, dear forum. Recently acquired a 755CX in an absolutely perfect shape, barely used. Only had a leaked resume battery. Cleaned that up, and it booted right up. But, the keys near the Tr...

Re: The official 755 Upgrade and general information Topic
Your best bet would be to disassemble the laptop down to the system board and check if there are any "green" spots. When these batteries leak, they often spew their guts onto the whole inside. That could be your problem - some bits of acid corroding crucial connections. Also, check if the resume bat...

Re: 755CD Giving Me a Headache :-/
When you power on the machine, do any of the indicator LEDs light up?
If not, then check if the interposer card is properly fitted and reseat it. Had this problem with my 755CX, took me some time to figure it out.
